Switching from nonrenewable to renewable energy sources is one of many strategies that can be used to achieve net-zero buildings. In Indonesia, this strategy is very feasible due to its abundant renewable energy resources, particularly solar energy. This research presents a school building as the proposed case. The school, SCK Citra Garden, is chosen as the pilot project due to its access to solar radiation and its minimum shading conditions. Using Helioscope software, BIPV modelling was simulated on its roof, and the electrical energy output from BIPV was calculated. The substitution percentages of BIPV energy output for conventional electrical energy consumed by the building were then measured. This percentage was compared to the National Energy Mix target and Greenhouse Gas Standard to assess its performance towards net-zero school buildings. The result shows that BIPV has a good performance. Even though the su...

The National Energy Council says that Indonesia has huge potential renewable energy resources. The largest amount coming from solar energy. However, only 5% is utilized. The number of building owners who want to install the technology related to renewable energy on/in a building in Indonesia is still very small. This happens due to the high initial cost of installation. In case of an existing building, the boundaries added with the limitation of structure and limitation of potential-available integrated area. This study proposed a BIPV model in an existing building to contribute the maximum use of renewable energy in a relatively limited potential-available integrated area. The experimental method was applied to several models. Amount of electrical energy generated, and ROI were used as optimization parameters. ROI will give more comprehensive review to a building owner, to show that the time pe...

A confined area, which was poorly ventilated and reliant on air conditioning, helped transmit the Covid-19 virus easily as air recirculation was the main cause of office clusters. One of the categories of Greenship Interior Space, Indoor Health and Comfort (IHC), could be used as a guide for creating better indoor quality. The method used for the research was a systematic literature review to define, study, analyze, and classify all available research relating to adaptation of indoor health and comfort criteria to mitigate the transmission in the workplace. The results show the adjustment to IHC criteria in IHC 1-10, which focus on providing good air quality by introducing outside air, stopping air recirculation, reducing indoor user capacity...

With that kind of space, they can improve or increase the life quality of every individual, or maybe it will add a new value for them. A restaurant is an example where people can gather and interact. The Garden Space is a restaurant with a concept to improve social and environment quality. So the design should answer and supporting restaurant’s concept. Sustainable design’s principle applied to support restaurant’s value of social and environment. The the architecture and interior design was inspired by the beauty of the modern contemporary design and it can be seen on the outside and inside the building. Skylights are designed to reduce the use of artificial lighting on midday and afternoon. Rainwater storage is used to minimise the use of water, and it is applied in the toilet’s urinal. There is also a hydroponic garden, a place where customer will be educated and they can interact with nature.

It is mainly used as a guideline that needs to be applied to buildings in order to achieve more sustainable design through energy and resource savings. Hence, it is expected to reduce the building operational costs, improve the users’ health and comfort, as well as to leave the minimum carbon footprint. Greenship IS rating tools consist of several categories, i.e., Appropriate Site Development (ESD), Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC), Water Conservation (WAC), Material and Resources Cycle, Building and Environment Management (BEM), and Indoor Health and Comfort (IHC). As the COVID-19 virus pandemic continues to spread, these categories need to be reviewed. Therefore, green building is not merely for sustainability but also expected could reduce the transmission of the Coronavirus that causes the COVID-19...

The review purposed to observe the advantages and disadvantages of the application. Designers could use that comparison for consideration of choosing the most suitable Building Integrated Renewable Energy (BIRE) concept for projects. The research presented a literature review of BIRE systems, particularly on BIPV and BIWT systems. The critical analysis focused on some parameters related to their main energy source, type, influencing factor, efficiency, and boundary. The observation about BIPV would be divided into subgroups according to photovoltaic (PV) materials, modules, efficiency, performance’s boundaries, and the general rule of thumb of its installation. The research finds that the BIPV application has advantages in terms of the building’s application scale. It can be applied from small-scale to large-scale. Furthermore, the ...

Empirical facts show that PV in BIPV system is integrated as add-on element only. They didn't take the role as form giver yet. Electricity output generized by BIPV depends on the amount of solar radiation received by PV panel. There are some factors affect the amount of radiation received. Two of them are tilt and orientation angle of PV panel, and total area prepared for PV panel installment. This research try to rise electricity output by collaborating those two factors with orientation and multiplicity principle in folding concept. Folding element can be arranged based on optimum tilt and orientation angle to reach maximum radiation supply. Also, the collaboration results in bigger surface area to receive higher solar irradiance. Experiment with simulation as it tools will be used as research method to get the optimal configuration of Folding Roof-BIPV.
