CIRA Awarded Primary Airport of the Year by IDOT - Central Illinois Regional Airport (original) (raw)

Airport’s commitment to safety, customer satisfaction cited

Bloomington, Ill. The Central Illinois Regional Airport was presented with the Primary Airport of the Year Award from the Illinois Department of Transportation Monday afternoon during the Illinois Public Airports Association Fall Conference in Galena. A primary airport is defined as a commercial service airport with more than 10,000 passenger boardings each year.

“Our community should be proud of this recognition by the state transportation department,“ said Alan Sender, Chairman of the Bloomington Normal Airport Authority. “IDOT sees what the community knows well; that CIRA’s customer service, outstanding safety record, modern and convenient facilities and high quality aviation services are an invaluable asset to McLean County and Central Illinois. Kudos to Carl Olson, his dedicated staff and all who work at CIRA for achieving this well-deserved recognition.”

In presenting the award, IDOT cited CIRA’s accomplishments, including an outstanding partnership with IDOT and a strong commitment to customer safety and satisfaction as selection criteria. Other award considerations were cooperation with the state, safety record, maintenance of the facility, and promotion of aviation and educational events.

The Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal offers air service on four airlines – Allegiant, American, Delta and Frontier.
