PERFECT 2023 FAA INSPECTION FOR CIRA - Central Illinois Regional Airport (original) (raw)

CIRA Achieves its 9th Perfect Score from the FAA

(Bloomington, Ill) The Central Illinois Regional Airport has earned another perfect inspection from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on its annual certification and safety inspection. This is the ninth perfect inspection for the airport since 2010. The inspection was conducted in early November by an FAA airport safety and certification inspector through the Great Lakes Region of the Federal Aviation Administration.

“Attaining a perfect score from the FAA is an extraordinary accomplishment for any airport. To record 9 perfect scores over the last 13 years, including a perfect score in 2023, is a testament to the outstanding airport staff at CIRA and bears witness to the organization’s commitment to the highest levels of safety and service,” said Alan Sender, Chair of the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority. “The BNAA Board of Commissioners is grateful to our dedicated staff for operating and maintaining the airport at the highest standards every day and having earned this level of recognition from the FAA. ”

The Annual Part 139 Inspection is mandatory for airports to hold an FAA issued Airport Operating Certificate. Specific safety standards are required by the FAA and the annual inspections typically reveal some minor areas that may need to be addressed.

The inspection includes a physical check of the airfield facilities and a detailed review of records, documentation, and procedures. Some of the specific areas of the inspection include airport emergency response capability, airfield maintenance and inspection programs, wildlife management practices, snow/ice control procedures, aircraft fueling procedures and personnel training programs.

Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal (CIRA) offers commercial air service on American, Allegiant, Delta, and Frontier, air cargo service on FedEx Express, and hosts various aircraft activity from private aircraft, corporate jet aircraft and charters daily.
