TY - JOUR AU - Yoder, Charles F. PY - 1979 DA - 1979/06/01 TI - How tidal heating in Io drives the galilean orbital resonance locks JO - Nature SP - 767 EP - 770 VL - 279 IS - 5716 AB - Tidal heating in Io is the most likely energy source of its volcanic activity. Tidal dissipation in Io and Jupiter also controls the resonance configuration among the three inner satellites. The formation of the several resonance locks is described in detail in this article. This model sets limits on the Q values of both Io and Jupiter. SN - 1476-4687 UR - https://doi.org/10.1038/279767a0 DO - 10.1038/279767a0 ID - Yoder1979 ER -
