Here we show that morphine activates TrkB in a NT-4–dependent manner and provide evidence from transgenic mice that such activation partially mediates morphine-induced analgesia. These findings show that the anti-nociceptive effect of morphine is partially mediated by NT-4–induced TrkB receptor activation.
