Objective: To explore reflection as a learning tool in undergraduate medical education.Study Desi... more Objective: To explore reflection as a learning tool in undergraduate medical education.Study Design: Cross-sectional survey.Place and Duration of Study: The study was conducted among MBBS and BDS undergraduate students of CMH Lahore Medical College and Institute of Dentistry, Lahore, Pakistan from 1st January 2022 to 30th June 2022.Materials and Methods: In this online cross-sectional survey, the Reflective practices questionnaire (RPQ) was administered to 290 medical (fourth and final year) and dental (third and final year) undergraduates. Data were analyzed through SPSS 24.Results: Out of 290 participants, the majority were female (179, 61.7%). Most of the participants were from MBBS (188, 64.8%). The overall mean score of the questionnaire was 73.493 ± 17.407 (95% CI: 16.286 ± 18.439) out of a total score of 96. This comprises of both verbal and non-verbal communicators. Particularly in the geriatric population, communication can be hindered due to physiological and psychological deterioration. This study was designed to assess the communication skills of dentistry postgraduate residents (PGRs), with their geriatric patients and provide a baseline for the shortcomings and improvements. Methods: Four postgraduate residents of both genders were selected to take clinical interviews of geriatric patients. Audio-video recordings were made by an expert and reviewed by all researchers. Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) was used as the study tool. Data was analyzed by using statistical software SPSS - 23. Frequencies and percentages were used for descriptive variables. Study Design: Quasi-experimental study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Combined Military Hospital Lahore, from Dec 2017 to May 2018. Methodology: A total of 352 women undergoing elective cesarean section under regional anesthesia, nil by mouth for at least 8 hours before surgery were divided in 2 groups. In group 1, patients were given sips of clear oral fluid (water) <5 hours after cesarean section and in group 2, patients received sips of water 8 hours following surgery. Material and Methods: The study was performed on 69 nursing students using the already validated ... more Material and Methods: The study was performed on 69 nursing students using the already validated Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire (50 items on a 0-4 Likert scale). The items, as well as scale scores were compared among nursing students. Data was analyzed by SPSS 16 using one sample t test. Results: The mean total score was 131.77 out of a maximum of 200 (SD 12.309) which corresponds to 65.88% of the maximum score indicating positively perceived environment. The sub-scale with the highest mean score was the Students' Perception of Learning for which the mean score was 32.61(SD 3.469) corresponding to 67.9% of the maximum score. The lowest mean score was for the Perceptions of the Atmosphere which was 29.61(SD 4.725) corresponding to 61.6% of the maximum score. Material and Methods: A total of 200 patients attending the OPD of CMH Lahore were enrolled in the study. After explaining the rationale of the study and taking verbal consent, a predesigned questionnaire was filled by the researcher. Based on their responses data was prepared, analyzed and interpreted. Methodology: The study involved 188 pregnant women with cervical insufficiency reporting in outpatient Department. Material and Methods: The study was performed on 69 nursing students using the already validated ... more Material and Methods: The study was performed on 69 nursing students using the already validated Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire (50 items on a 0-4 Likert scale). The items, as well as scale scores were compared among nursing students. Data was analyzed by SPSS 16 using one sample t test. Results: The mean total score was 131.77 out of a maximum of 200 (SD 12.309) which corresponds to 65.88% of the maximum score indicating positively perceived environment. The sub-scale with the highest mean score was the Students' Perception of Learning for which the mean score was 32.61(SD 3.469) corresponding to 67.9% of the maximum score. The lowest mean score was for the Perceptions of the Atmosphere which was 29.61(SD 4.725) corresponding to 61.6% of the maximum score. Study Design: Cross sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Outpatient department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Combined Military Hospital Lahore, from Jul to Dec 2018. Material and Methods: A total of 200 patients attending the OPD of CMH Lahore were enrolled in the study. After explaining the rationale of the study and taking verbal consent, a predesigned questionnaire was filled by the researcher. Based on their responses data was prepared, analyzed and interpreted. Results: The patients were between the ages of 19 to 48 years while the mean age of the patients was 28.41 ± 4.909. Ninety four percent being housewives. Study Design: Quasi experimental study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Combined Military Hospital Lahore, from Jan 2018 to Jun 2018. Methodology: The study involved 188 pregnant women with cervical insufficiency reporting in outpatient Department. After taking informed consent, the outcome variables age, number of mid-trimester pregnancy losses, body mass index and gestational age were recorded on specially designed proforma. Efficacy as if pregnancy was carried to 37 weeks of gestation was recorded. 93 patients were inducted in cerclage arm and 95 patients were treated with vaginal progesterone 400 mg once daily.
