A state-of-the-art research center committed to help ensure safe food for all.
关于我们
At Mars, we believe everyone has the right to safe food. In September 2015, Mars opened the Mars Global Food Safety Center (GFSC), a state-of-the-art research and training facility, designed to help tackle the most significant food safety challenges facing the planet today. The first of its kind, the facility aims to harness the power of international collaboration with a network of global partners and operational insights from Mars sites around the world, to raise the bar on food safety and help ensure safe food for all. World-leading scientists conduct pre-competitive, original research at the Center using cutting edge approaches, which are shared through scientific publications and forums. The Center has set ambitious targets in three critical areas of food safety: mycotoxin risk management, microbial risk management, and food integrity (including areas such as food fraud).

🚪 Behind the Doors of Our China hub of Mars Global Food Safety Science: How We Partner with Mars Snacking China through Training, Technology Development, and External Engagement 🤝🌏 We recently had the pleasure of hosting the Mars Wrigley China R&D leaders at the Mars Global Food Safety Center to discuss the progress on our aligned strategy. It was a super engaging and productive meeting, as we explored our shared vision for food safety and supply chain resilience in China. At GFSC, we have R&D assets in China strategically placed to support our local business with expertise in food safety, delivering impactful insights, and offering advanced training programs, as well to positively influence broader food industry in Asia, enhancing supply chain resilience, and driving food safety innovation, leveraging our Global and local networks. During the visit, we reviewed the cutting-edge technologies we’re piloting via China site, from rapid #AI based #authentication with compact ambient mass spectrometer to pathogens source tracking with portable #genomics tools and advanced spectral #sorting technology for #aflatoxin control in peanuts. The team also had an opportunity to experience a hands-on lab tour (that was awesome #MIB experience, Qian (Monica) Yu!), where we engaged with our scientists and reviewed the food safety innovations we’re driving in real time. We’ve acknowledged the milestone of issuing more than 50,000 food safety training certificates through our e-learning platform, empowering people across our China and Asia food supply chains with vital expertise. In our discussions, we also identified the new standards we need to lead together to further elevate the quality and food safety of our supply chains in China. A big thank you to everyone who supported the visit and contributed to these important discussions Patrick Kuang, @Lily Xu @Rainer Wang, Jane Wang, Ziqi Wang , 彭虹 高志强 , Qian (Monica) Yu , Chongtao Ge , Yueju Zhao! Together, we’re pioneering new ways to ensure food safety and strengthen supply chains for the future.#TomorrowStartsToday #ProudlyMars #FoodSafety #MarsSnackingChina #MarsWrigleyChina #SupplyChainResilience #InnovationInFoodSafety #AflatoxinControl #PortableMassSpec #Training #PilotTech #Genomics - Mars Global Food Safety Center转发了

Delighted to share insights from the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) Annual Meeting 2024 in Long Beach, where I had the privilege of presenting our recent research on behalf of the Mars Global Food Safety Center. Our poster, titled "Identification of Listeria spp. and Listeria monocytogenes with Nanopore-Based Whole Genome Sequencing," highlighted significant advancements in rapid molecular-based confirmation methods for foodborne pathogens. This project was a collaborative effort involving Cornell University and the University of Georgia, with robust internal support from our Mars Global Service R&D solutions and the Quality & Food Safety teams at Mars. Our approach notably reduces the time required to identify Listeria species from days to less than 24 hours. I am thankful for the opportunity to communicate and share our research findings with many esteemed professionals from industry, academia, and regulatory bodies. The positive feedback has been very affirming. Our research contributes to improved practices in managing food safety across the supply chain, enhancing both response times and accuracy in pathogen confirmation and demonstrated the feasibility of using nanopore sequencing in pathogen source tracking. If you're interested in learning more about our research and its impact on food safety, please feel free to contact me.#IAFP2024 #FoodSafety #WholeGenomeSequencing #ListeriaTracking #FoodScience #InnovationInFoodSafety #MarsGlobalFoodSafetyCenter - We’re proud of the groundbreaking research that Silin Tang recently presented at the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP). This study is a great proof point of how our Associates and partners are advancing food safety through innovative science. In his post, Boris Bolshchikov explains how this research is helping enhance food safety and revolutionize how we handle foodborne pathogens globally.
