Dr Moktar Hamdi, is full Prof. of applied microbiology and bioengineering at University of Carthage working in academia and in industry to develop and improve products and bioprocess, espacially the green process technologies for wastewater treatment and biofuels production.
He has produced more than 230 publications in refereed journals (Google Scholar H-index 53), 12 patents (INNORPI, EP, US) and 5 book chapterswith more than 6000 citations. He has supervised over 50 PhD students with applied research closely with industry.
He is a member of the Editorial board of Nature and Technology Journal, Review of Scientific Env. Biotechnology IF : 5.7, ISRN Chemical Eng., Biology, Engineering and Medicine,and former member of othersjournals : Bioprocess Eng., Natural and Environ. Science (associate editor), American Journal of current Microbiology (advisory editor), African Journal of Biotechnology.
At the undergraduate level, He teaches Water and Food Microbiology, Bioreactor Eng., Environmental Process, and two newly developed course on Innovation methods (DOE, TRIZ, MSP…). At the graduate level, He teaches a Food fermentation processing and water technology, Pollution treatment and Biofuels (biogas and bioethanol) from biomass (wastes and microalgae).
He is a Head of Laboratory of Microbial Ecology and Technology LETMi-05ES08 (since 2003) and others administrative experiences: Director General of National Centre of Nuclear Sciences and Technology (2014-2019), Head of Graduate School of Sciences, Engineering and Technology INSAT (2009 – 2012), Head of Department of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering INSAT (2002 -2008). He has served on several technical committees for several governmental and nongovernmental agencies (Recruitment, certification, accreditation, training) in Tunisia.
Dr Hamdi received his diploma of engineering in industrial microbiology (1987) and PhD (1991) in microbiology from University of Provence.
