Manga --> Live Action Mar. 18th, 2006 @ 03:48 am
lacontessa11 Animaxis reported in this article that oricon style published a ranking of the top 20 manga people would like to see as a live action movie. I thought the lists were 1. interesting and 2. a good conversation piece, so I translated them.Mad props to the animenewsnetwork.com manga encyclopedia for knowing about series I've never even remotely heard of before. Check there if you're curious about any of these.( Most of these aren't even available in this country o_OCollapse )Sooooo . . . what do y'all think should be made into live action (manga or anime, LA series or movie)?I second the Naruto and Ouran Koukou votes. I'm really curious about the special effects Naruto would require, and Ouran Koukou is such a hilarious manga that I imagine a live action would be even better. There's already a live action Bleach musical, so I could that being converted into a (non-musical) movie or something (please? Their Ichigo was pretty perfect for the part). Other than that, my choice is obvious: Hana-Kimi. It would make an amazing LA (or anime) series, and it needs to become one or the other soon. I'll stop now because I don't want to take anyone else's choices and I know a few people will probably say the several other series I have in mind ^_^Tags: live action, manga, news (2 people overdoing things | Subjects of the Flame, Dance!)

Behold the power of the library system! Aug. 6th, 2005 @ 04:01 pm
bonbon868 I love libraries. Who doesn't love a place that houses books and lets you read them for free?? And then they come along and put up online catalogues. Sometimes people just rock. Anyway, this all has a point: I wandered over to my local online catalogue (the Portland library system) to see what manga they had...and they had a LOT. Unfortunately, I won't be home to receive said manga. Well,then I had the bright idea to check out Worldcat. And, seeing how that includes every library in the United States, they do indeed have everything (well, everything I was looking for). Plus, they have anime as well. Which makes it, y'know, legal and all if anyone wants to check it out. Now you don't have to be rich to read manga! And I no longer have to mooch off my friends!Character Concept: cheerfulcheerful Tags: manga (2 people overdoing things | Subjects of the Flame, Dance!)

bubbleteagirl02 By random chance, one of my friends going to AKON lent me Wallflowers. All I have to say is its so good!!!!! I love it so far! (read the first two manga, will read the third when I can steal it from her) Though I will admit its not for everyone.The main girl, Sunako Nakahara, loves anything with blood, guts and gore but absolutely hates the "creatures of the light" (aka pretty people). The four (extremely good looking guys (yes they do look girly at times)) are told they can have free rent if they can make Sunako a girl. They have no idea what they are stepping into. Sunako is extremely stubborn, not to mention ends up having nose bleeds every time she actually sees the guys. But the tales of how they try to make her a pretty lady are hillarious!Yes its about making a supposedly "ugly" (she is not really ugly) girl pretty, but there are some twists along the way. There is definately romance (several of the guys have girlfriends, even one who befriends Sunako) but there is even more dealings with the occult.If you have a chance, I definately say read it!Character Concept: cheerfulcheerfulUnderscored by: L.O.V.E.
