_6:15 pm_[sol_amoun] Counter Culture on Mill There is a very real possibility that Counter Culture will be reopening in the near future. This time on Mill Avenue in a 6100 square feet location with a full kitchen. We will also be a full venue with a real stage and sound system, a bar and a retail location specializing in locally produced art music and fashion. It's time for us freaks to take back Mill! Think positive thoughts, help us generate some buzz and spread the good word!ps: We have an amazing opportunity here and are currently negotiating free rent for our first year, but we need help: partners, sponsors and investors. Even small amounts of capital will help, and while there is no such thing as a risk-free investment, free rent for a year, complete commercial kitchen, in between a large parking garage and the MADCAP Theaters, at the base of two (currently under construction) condo towers and walking distance from the nation's largest public research university (asu) makes this a no-brainer! please spread the word and contact andres.yuhnke@gmail.com with any interest. thanks! _8:08 am_[citizenjess] Don't miss a day of your future! I've recently enrolled with Grand Canyon University to work on my second Bachelor's degree in English literature. (My first BA is in Psychology, and my Masters is in Education with a specialization in English, so this is basically for the content knowledge.) I'll be working completely online, since I'm in Iowa; my first Bachelor's was in a traditional on-campus setting, and my Masters I did completely via the Internet with another accredited university, so I definitely know what to expect in that regard. Assuming financial aid gets squared away, I'll be starting at the very end of August.Anybody else a GCU-er and/or working with the same program/content and/or in an online university setting? I always enjoy hearing testimonials! Personally, I preferred the online setting in a lot of ways, and always privately felt during my in-classroom English courses that they would be way more bearable without having to listen to the same 3-5 people yammering about their interpretations every day. Also, I can teach full-time and still pursue an aspect of my education which will directly benefit my career. It is, I feel, the best of both worlds.Anyways, nice to meet you all! _5:53 pm_[gothic_dollypop] Hi guys, I just joined this community :) I live in Tucson and am currently attending Pima Community College, West Campus. Does anyone happen to go to either the East, Northwest, Downtown or West campuses and want to make some new friends XD ? If so, feel free to browse my LJ if you think we might share some similar interests.I'm only a part-time student but the West Campus feels kind of daunting to me since I don't know anyone who likes the same things as me-or anyone really, to tell the truth :/ In fact, my first day on campus I got lost and missed my first class, ha ha!Anyway, nice to meet you all, thanks for your time!~Current Mood: hungry (Comment on this)

_7:10 pm_[she_evolves] LGBTQ Tucson / Tempe? Hello everyone,I am a rising undergrad senior who is looking into applying for Ph.D programs in the fall. I want to do Women's Studies / Gender Studies with the goal of becoming a college professor, and I've realized through my research that the University of Arizona as well as Arizona State both have some of the best programs in the country. What I want to know is, with Arizona being a red state overall and all that, how liberal is Tucson and/or Tempe, depending on which area[s] you're familiar with, and more specifically / to the point, how is the LGBTQ community? Is the surrounding area very homophobic / hostile? I know that society at large is, but as a Californian who attends college in western Massachusetts and who also is a lesbian with a fiancee who is a huge part of my life [obviously], I really want to know what I'm getting myself into before I move to Arizona with her. Any input you could give me, even if it's anecdotal, would be *greatly* appreciated. I'm also going to post this to a few other communities [The University of Arizona community, an ASU one, a Tucson one, a Phoenix one, etc.].Thanks so much in advance for your time! _2:48 pm_[krzysztof78] Room for rent in Central Phoenix $450/mo., utilities included I'm looking for a roomate to share my three bedroom house with. I live alone so this would be a good quiet place for a student (or anyone who appreciates quiet). The room is about as large as a typical master bedroom. Utilities are included. The house is wired for cable and high-speed internet. I also have an extra room that's pretty must just storage, so you're welcome to keep stuff in there as well. A little about me: I'm a 29 year old male, creative professional. Not much of a party animal but I do like to be social. I have two indoor cats in case you have allergy considerations. I'd prefer not to add any more animals to the house, but that might be negotiable. I'm looking for someone who is responsible, respectful and employed. Please, no drugs or substance abuse problems. Feel free to email or call if you have any questions. 773-573-9008 (Comment on this)

_2:56 pm_[sol_amoun] Tonight at the Paper Heart: America: Freedom to Fascism STARTING AT 930PM Subversive Film Seriespresents**( Embedded Video: 15 Minute PromoCollapse )**America: Freedom to FascismWant to see how our great-grandparents were sold into slavery in the early 1900's? Want to learn the truth about income taxes and the true source of government control over the American public? Join us on Wednesday, March 14th for a screening of a very special film.Determined to find the law that requires Americans to pay income tax, Aaron Russo (THE ROSE, TRADING PLACES) sets out on a journey. Neither left- nor right-wing, this startling examination exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America. Through interviews with US Congressmen, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents, tax attorneys and authors, Russo connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, voter fraud, the national identity card (becoming law in May 2008) and the implementation of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to track citizens. A striking case about the evolving police state in America.Film will start @ 9:30 pmOpen discussion following filmsAdmission is Free!Full coffee bar and food available from Counter Culture Cafe.Counter Culture Cafeinside The Paper Heart750 NW Grand Ave.Phoenix, AZ 85007 (Comment on this)
