Created by Bruno Stagnaro, The Eternaut is an Argentine post-apocalyptic survival thriller series based on Héctor Germán Oesterheld and Francisco Solano López’s eponymous 1950s comic. Set in Buenos Aires after most of the population is killed by mysterious (and deadly) snow, the series follows a group of survivors struggling to stay alive. To make matters worse, they learn that the snow was just the opening salvo of an alien invasion, leaving them no choice but to band together and fight. The show stars Ricardo Darín, Carla Peterson, César Troncoso, Andrea Pietra, and more.

Adapted from a classic of Argentine literature, The Eternaut was exceptionally well-received when it premiered on Netflix in April 2025. A tightly paced sci-fi thriller that’s part layered character drama and part gripping mystery, the series has been praised for its writing, direction, performances, and production values, as well as its faithfulness to the source material. The Eternaut is easily one of Netflix’s best sci-fi shows in recent years, and a second and final season of the series is currently in the works.
