Moving to Columbus or thereabouts (original) (raw)

I am moving next week from the DC area to a short-term rental in Worthington. I've never been to Columbus before but I've been lurking on a couple of communities and googling furiously; I haven't found enough online clues to figure out where the best place to buy will be. Looking will be fun, though!

Name: Koralleen
Married/partnered?: Married
# of kids, kids names and ages: three kids - Christopher and Jennifer (19 and 21) are in school and will stay in Maryland while 5yo Victoria gets to come with us
What part of Columbus do you live in?: good question
What is your/your spouse's occupation?: I retired (!) to homeschool my youngest but up until last week I was a systems analyst. My spouse is a wandering banker.
What are your hobbies?: Anything related to books, biking, traveling
What's your favorite thing to do with your kid(s) in Columbus?: I will get back to you on that.
Do you have any pictures?:
Anything else you want to add?: I have really enjoyed living in Takoma Park, MD. We can easily walk to playgrounds, libraries, a post office, a grocery store, and a subway station. Although the hippies and artists who made the town what it is today now all have law degrees and nannies it is still a lot of fun with festivals, music and art events, and a welcoming attitude that encourages diversity. You can be pretty weird here and it's ok. I am looking forward to checking out Columbus and environs, but if anyone has any tips for finding a neighborhood similar to the one I'm leaving feel free to share them. Please!
