_12:08 am_[spawn_kcb] | Writers are you thinking of self-publishing. I am a small press writer from Britain and I am looking to meet another three like-minded writers to share the cost of a self-publishing venture. The proposed project has no artists attached or any real theme or genre, just an idea for the physical book. The work is creator owned and anything you bring to the table will remain the property of yourself and the artist. The four of us, with each promoting the book on our respective blogs, forums and sites, will put up all printing and advertising costs. Likewise, the profits from the book split between the four of us. It will then be at your discretion to further divide them between your team (Artist, inker etc) as you see fit. If this rather vague advert has piqued your interest then please feel free to drop me a line below, with a list of your influences and the type of book you would like to produce. If you have, any previously published work then please feel free to include a link or a brief bit about it.As many of you have blogs or sites then a link to them would be useful as well.I am not looking artists at the moment or complete projects; I am looking to start this project from a fresh without pre-conceived notions or goals.Really, that is the fundamental purpose of this book, creating something new. Thanks for taking the time to read this, please accept my apologies if this is posted in the wrong place and if you have read this twice.RegardsKevin McHughKevin_mchugh@blueyonder.co.ukhttp://www.clockworkshadow.co.uk (Comment on this) |

_9:23 pm_[spawn_kcb] | Artists Wanted - Amended Hello,Firstly, I am cross posting this across what seems like half of the internet. Therefore, if this is the second or third time you are reading this then please accept my apologies.I am a Scottish writer who has had some success in the British small press and self-publishing world. I am currently looking for any artists who would be interested in helping me produce an anthology of short superhero stories with an eye towards self-publish it through the Ronin- Studios Banner. Ideally I would be looking for between 4-8 pages of work, however I would be more than happy with between two and three pages, a pin-up or even more than eight pages The book would be a collection of short tales featuring my creator-owned character “The Clockwork Shadow”. I already have one complete strip in the bag which I am HOPING to have included in an upcoming edition of the Ronin Illustrated Anthology and that I can use this as a way of drawing in new readers. Therefore, the visual design of the character and his world already exists. However, I am looking to expand upon the foundations laid in this story and build up not only his world and his supporting cast but also his rouges gallery. Style is not really an issue as I try to write towards my artists strengths and feel that this book has enough flexibility in it to allow me to go in many different directions creatively without loosing any of the books focus.Unfortunately the best I can offer in way of recompense is guaranteed publication, a couple of comp copies... and maybe a token some of money as a symbol of my gratitude (Between 20 and 25 dollars tops). I am not looking for any support financially and am willing to pay for the printing run, web space, advertising etc. I am just looking for hungry artists who wish to get work out there and read by people. This would be an ideal project for someone looking to strengthen his or her portfolio...I think.**I forgot to mention that I would also a share the profits, split between all the contributors.**Thank you for taking the time to read this and reply. If you want further information then get in touch and I will try to answer you as best I can.Moderators etc. please accept my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place, my intentions where not to upset people.RegardsKevin McHughKevin_mchugh@blueyonder.co.uk (Comment on this) |

_2:47 pm_[unityflow] | The Flowfield Unity Book OK, the New Flowfield Unity print collection is now available from the website – www.theflowfieldunity.comDespite all the advice, I've decided to make it by hand... printed, stiched and bound. And the plan is to make every copy an individual.I've written a short article on why I decided to do this, you can read it here: http://theflowfieldunity.com/making-the-book/All the best,Ad (Comment on this) |

_1:15 pm_[poisonrational] | CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS Music touches our lives every day. It is an influential and defining part of all generations and cultures and, because of this, we would like to put together an anthology full of (2-6 page) autobiographical stories about the influence that music has had on your lives as an individuals, as artists, and/or on your creative process. In Spring 2007, we published Side A: The Music Lover's Graphic Novel that included such great artists as: Liz Greenfield (Stuff Sucks), Ben Snakepit (Snakepit), Lars Brown (North World), and Corey Marie Parkhill (Scene Language). It's already being sold in shops nationally and was featured in The Comics Journal, Razorcake, and Alternative Press Magazine. While the reviews were great, we would like to try our hand at making the next installment even better. You can team up with one other person (a writer with an artist, or vice versa). All entries that are chosen for publication will remain copyright their creators, and said creators will receive a free copy of the final publication to call their own. We're shooting for a 200 page book that will be on shelves Spring 2009; we will be taking submissions until November 30th, 2008. You can read more about the project and the submission guidelines on the website linked below.Poseur Ink was formed in 2003 as a small press comic book publisher and alternative apparel shop by writer/illustrator Rachel Dukes. While primarily selling their products on the web, Poseur Ink also attends several comic book conventions annually, and select merchandise is carried in alternative stores across the country. Side A: The Music Lover's Graphic Novel was their first large anthology.Contact: Rachel Dukes rachel[at]poseurink[dot]com(Apologies for any and all x-posting.) (Comment on this) |

_9:43 pm_[spawn_kcb] | Artist Wanted - Paid Gig Hello,Firstly, I am cross posting this across what seems like half of the internet. Therefore, if this is the second or third time you are reading this then please accept my apologies.I am a Scottish writer who has had some success in the British small press and self-publishing world. I am looking to put together a submission package aimed at getting a superhero one shot/graphic novel picked up at professional publisher. The deal I am offering is to pay an artist to produce between 5-8 pages of the script a mock cover. Once we have agreed upon a price for the work and a time scale, and you have mocked up a few character designs to show we are on the same page I will pay 50% of the agreed amount. Once you complete the pages to my satisfaction, I will pay the remainder and this will end your involvement with the project. You will receive payment in full regardless of what happens next.If however the company we are pitching to agree to pick up the book then you would complete the book for a 50% split of any profits made from the back end of the deal. At this point, you would also receive co-creator status and everything that entails. However, I would like to note that I have a strong idea in mind of both how I want the book to look and the sort of collaborator I am looking for. With that in mind, please note the following:· You must speak English. It does not have to be your first language you just have to be fluid enough to avoid the book getting lost in translation. · No one with a typically super hero artistic style. I am looking for something outside of the genre cliché; in fact, the story pretty much demands it.· Only send samples of your sequential work, as it is much harder to gauge artist strength from pin-ups etc.· You should not be easily offended. While the work is not particularly “Preacher esq.” it does have a certain Vertigo flair to it. · Ideally, I am looking for a collaborator. I would rather someone I could work with instead of an employee. · No CV’s etc. I am looking for an artist and previous experience is irrelevant as long as they are hungry and willing to create.Thank you for taking the time to read this and reply. If you want further information then get in touch and I will try to answer you as best I can.Moderators etc. please accept my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place, my intentions where not to upset people.RegardsKevin McHughKevin_mchugh@blueyonder.co.uk (Comment on this) |
