Bite Sized Bits of Fic (original) (raw)

Hello, everyone!

As you all know, this community relies a lot on guest hosts to keep up a theme for the day, so here's your chance to give back!

Sign up to be a guest host! All you need to do is leave the following in the comments and you'll be given a guest host week!

Sign Up Form:

The first available week is Jan 1-5, 2024, and the rest of the calendar will be filled in accordingly.

While week claiming is first come, first serve, those who ask for specific dates will be given those dates, and others will be filled in around that.

If you are unavailable during certain times, please let us know and you will be scheduled accordingly.

Lonely Prompts Week is scheduled to happen the last week of March, June, September, and December.

If you would also like to be a pinch-hitter, you can fill out the same form, and for the when spot, put pinch-hit. Also, be sure to include your themes. If you signed up to pinch-hit last year and were never used, I have brought you over to 2024.

Behind the "spoiler" tag is a list of dates and those who have signed up for them. Please check the comments to see which dates have already been claimed vs what's been updated in this entry.

2025 Calendar coming soon!

You can use this entry template for when you post, which is also available in the links on the sidebar and will be sent to you in the reminder messages the weekend before you host.

Please make sure that you are an actual member of the community and not just watching it. Only members can be granted community posting access. You don’t have to be a member to leave a prompt or fill a prompt.

New rule going forward: Please schedule your entries as soon as you have been given your dates or received your reminder message. I am hoping to eliminate days where there are no posts, or it goes up late in the day.

ARCHIVE OF OUR OWN COLLECTION: Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2023 and Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection on AO3 for you to add your work to if you'd like.

If you have any questions, you can leave them here or PM me.

Hello, everyone. I’m captainamergirl and this is my first time hosting this event. I hope I do the job well!

Today's theme is What’s in a Name? Prompts can have anything to do with - you guessed it - names! Is your character naming their new baby, deciding to change their name, calling their S.O. by a funny nickname, best known by their stage name, or using an alias (maybe because they are on the run or catfishing somebody?!)? The beauty of it all is that you get to decide; those are just some of the fun options!

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full name and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here. Unfortunately, DW doesn’t have a cut tag, so use your best judgment when it comes to spoilers.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Any, any, looking for the perfect gender-neutral baby name
+ Any, any, informing a partner you are keeping your last name after marriage
+ Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy +/, 'What the hell kind of name is Buffy anyway?'

We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community. Fret not, DW members; we are working on a way to search through old entries for prompts for you! As of right now, the best way to search for a lonely prompt on DW is to search the community’s archive, which can be found [[HERE]].

While the use of LJ's advanced search and DW’s archive are options, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.

As a friendly reminder about our schedule, Lonely Prompts and sharing completed fills are encouraged on Sundays, while new themes and prompts are posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day. We'll share our posts on DW and LJ for everyone's convenience. Keep an eye out for notifications!

If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so…and spread the word! If you'd like to help out and can spare a little time, please consider signing up to be a guest host. If you don't have accounts at both LJ and DW, it's still possible to guest host (with admin assistance). Here are the remaining dates available for 2024: Nov. 26 & 28, 2024 Dec. 10 & 12, 2024 Dec. 17 & 19, 2024 Dec. 31, 2024 & Jan. 2, 2025 We hope you can volunteer, and we look forward to your theme ideas. =)

Hey, come on in! ^.^ Idk about you, but I wasn't expecting the weekend to pass by this quickly. 6^^; Anyway... Welcome to this week's Lonely Prompts adoption day (which, y'know, is every day, but Sundays are especially good for it). If this is your first time at comment_fic on a Sunday, you can either request previous prompts to be filled or share your fills for prompts. (Or do both, of course!) ✎

How to look for prompts:
We have plenty of prompts that might just nibble away at your brain today. You can browse through the comm's calendar archive (here on LJ or here on DW) for themed and Free For All posts, or perhaps check out Sunday posts for Lonely Prompt requests. (Or, you can be like me, and try to save interesting prompts as you see 'em... and then end up with multiple text doc files full of [themes + links + prompts] that you can easily look through and search for keywords.) Multiple fills for one prompt are welcome, by the way! Oh, and you are very likely to find some awesome fills to read as well, and wouldn't it be nice to leave a comment on those lovely little writing distractions? ~_^

Whichever you decide to do, prompt or fill (or both), please remember:
1. You can only request five prompts to be filled.
2. You can request no more than three prompts from a particular fandom.
3. You can, however, fill as many prompts in as many fandoms as you'd like!
4. In the subject line, be sure to say whether it is a request or a fill!
5. You must link back to wherever the prompt is in the community archive (whether filling or requesting), and, if you're filling the prompt, please post the fill as a reply to the original prompt.
6. If you are filling an "any/any" prompt, please let us know what fandom you've written it for (or if it's original!).
8. If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
7. If you've filled any lonely prompts in the past week, this is the place to share them!
9. Finally, please remember to add your prompt fills to our AO3 collection: Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this option here.

How to link:

A friendly reminder about our 2024 posting schedule: Themed posts for new prompts go up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day for new prompts of any flavor. Sundays are for showing Lonely Prompts some love, whether by requesting for someone to adopt them or by sharing any fills that you've recently completed. As of February, posting will be done on both DW and LJ, with the LJ version of the comm periodically imported to DW.

Hello there! I hope everyone's doing well. :D Are you ready for this week's Free for All? If you've had any ideas that didn't really work with Tuesday's or Thursday's posts, now's the time to prompt 'em. There are no themes to follow for prompts or fills. Be free, and have fun! ✎

Just a few rules:
1. No more than five prompts in a row.
2. No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
3. Use the character's full name and the fandom's full name for ease in adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
4. No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here. Unfortunately, DW doesn’t have a cut tag, so use your best judgment when it comes to spoilers.
5. If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
6. If your story has possible triggers, please warn for them in the subject line!

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]

Hey, everyone! I'm creepy_shetan, and I'm back with another theme that I hope you have some fun with today. ^.^ Thanks for prompting, brainstorming, writing, reading, commenting, and generally checking in this week!

Today's theme is indulgences. The easiest way for me to sum this up is with a Parks & Rec reference: today's the day for anyone and everyone to "treat yo'self." ✨ Go on and have that thing you want without worrying, and maybe even help someone else enjoy themselves, too. It's time to reward and spoil your characters in whatever way you wish/they'd wish. It can be something small (like a nice dessert with dinner) or something big (like a long vacation far away from their usual life struggles). Of course, indulgences don't have to cost money, and what's thought of as "something extra" varies from person to person.

Feel free to add specifics to your prompts, like whether you'd prefer a gen fill over something shippy, or if you have a squick or trigger you hope to avoid. Original fiction, fanfiction, and fanfic crossovers are all welcome. ~_^

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.

Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Tolkien, anyone of Gondor or Rohan + any hobbit(s), they have trouble imagining life in the Shire, where indulgences are part of everyday life
+ any super hero comic book fandom, any (+/ any), a hotel room upgrade and/or room service
+ author's choice, any (+/ any), buying a fancy dessert from a nice bakery after a stressful day/week at work

Hello, and I hope you're having a good Tuesday! :D I'm creepy_shetan, your host for this week. Let's get started, shall we? ✨

Today's theme is necessities. This can involve the standard food, water, clothing, and shelter types of necessities, or perhaps something that's more specific or unique to the needs of your character or setting of choice. Some examples of this include air in space, armor for battle, weaponry for self-defense, medicine or medical equipment for health conditions, and pets or other people for emotional support. (Or, y'know, you can sing along with Baloo about the bare necessities of life. No need to be quite so serious with this theme. >:P)

Feel free to add specifics to your prompts, like whether you'd prefer a gen fill over something shippy, or if you have a squick or trigger you hope to avoid. Original fiction, fanfiction, and fanfic crossovers are always welcome. ~_^

+ Tenet, the Protagonist +/ Neil (+ Ives + Wheeler), what you (don't) need to know
+ The Batman (Reevesverse), Bruce Wayne (+ any), needing sleep and not finding it
+ author's choice, any +/ any, using something small and simple that they keep on hand in case of emergencies

We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
