Over at Park City mall in Lancaster, they've got a DDR Supernova machine, but they've also got a couple Pump It Up machines, which are set up the same way as the DDR machines (I've seen the footpads also set up where they're all diagonal). I thought I could do their "light mode" just as well as DDR...needless to say, I got my ass kicked first song in. Current Mood: ![]() |

Afternoon, all Hello there (fellow) PA DDR fans! I've always been a bit on the sidelines of liking DDR. However my s/o has expressed an interest in DDR as a way to improve her health. I'm looking for the answers to a few questions. I'll try to prefix them a teense. Software Console I have a PStwo (and a GC; I know DDR Mario Mix is impossible to find). What is arguably the best title to begin working with DDR? Cost isn't a problem, but I'm looking for a good mix of music (I like hard banging techno, my s/o's more of a classic rock fan) and a good mix of features--including a training mode. PSone versions are okay, but I don't have an appropriate memory card so that does factor into my price considerations slightly. Linux I have a good lot of computers running Linux that I could easily turn one into a dedicated game machine. I think my program of choice would be StepMania but I haven't heard too much about what core DDR players think of it. Where would one get music for such a system? Can you make your own dance routines--easily (I can hack together something in a few days, but can my s/o make her own?) Are there limitations of the engine that I would need to know about (limit on song length, encoding format, etc.)? Pads Connectivity I also need pads. If I'm going for PC I'll need decent USB pads that are detected as joysticks (redoctane seemed to fit that bill). PStwo pads are also workable...do the PStwo versions of the console mixes allow the use of USB pads? (I know that the XBox ones do as the XBox controller spec is USB with a funny plug.) I can always get PStwo->USB adapters from say LikSang as long as they translate into joystick presses. Slip What's better for slippage and why? I have double-sided duct tape which is awesome for holding down carpet so that may mitigate things a bit but I am worried about taking the carpet with the tape when I pull it up. Neighbors Oh, we're on the second floor of an apartment complex, so any pad we get should be fairly sensitive. Would this rule out hard pads? Thanks for your time. Hopefully I won't start a flame war here... Current Mood: ![]() |

Hey all,My family moved to Ephrata this summer while I'm still in college up here in Dallas, PA. So finding a DDR machine is no problem up here in Dallas, 'cause there's one in the Viewmont Mall, and another at the Cinemark. However, I haven't lived in Lancaster county since 1997. Does anyone in Lancaster county know if there's any DDR machines in Ephrata, or anywhere near there?Much thanks. Current Mood: ![]() |

I just realized how long it's been since this place has been updated. Pshhh. You all need to post more :p Post about anything. Accomplisments. Where you play. When you play. What you play on. Favorite songs. I don't care :DMmm. I haven't played in awhile. I was going to go to the arcade yesterday, actually, but I couldn't because I ended up throwing up after running the mile in school so my mom wouldn't let me go out anywhere. Damn that mile :x (2 Comments |Comment on this) |

For no apparent reason, I filmed myself playing DDR.And I'm too lazy to fix the audio or compress the movie. So deal with 35 mb vids.http://shadowtherat.com/temp/ddrfag-janejana.avihttp://shadowtherat.com/temp/drfag-a.aviI'm wearing pajama pants so my legs look fatter, and after watching Jane Jana it looked like it was too easy, so I did A.It doesn't look as impressive unless you're actually playing it.God I'm a fag.CAUTION: Audio quality of A for some reason got amplified by a LOT. So it sounds like poop. (Comment on this) |

Hello everyone, n00b here :-p. I'm steve jurnack, 18 years old, and in college at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre PA. Hmmm...ability-wise I'm pretty much halfway to heavy, a can AA a few standard songs, and A quite a few more. I own DDR Ultramix 2 for the box, and I play that here at college...when I can, which I VERY infrequently. More later...peace out. (Comment on this) |

Nothin's gonna stop me now tonight, nothin's gonna stop me now... Got back from the DDR tourney at my school. I was pretty much the only Heavy player there, but we scored by points so that I wouldn't totally dominate over everyone. I was the only HEavy player, and there was one Standard and the rest were newbies or casual players.Maybe I would have if the pads weren't shitty as all fuck though.http://www.ddraction.com/dance-dance-revolution-aerobicpad-ddrmax.htmlDO NOT BUY THESE. The buttons stuck like crazy, and the Start and Select buttons are right above the up arrow, so several times people were resetting the game, and worst of all the buttons were too hard to play in socks, but if you played in shoes, you went everywhere. And we just stuck with 120-150bpm songs on DDRMax.Hopefully next time we get to play Max2. Anyways, I came in second. I fucked up a few times on True... on Standard and got a lot less than my opponent. But I still got a $10 Sheetz gift card... mmmm, crappy gas and good food. And I love my Ignition pad more than ever now.Edit: Oh yeah, and it's for school students only, sorry.
