 vintage_crime is a community for discussion of crime novels and detective fiction from the beginning (with Edgar Allan Poe) up to around 1950. From Victorian and Edwardian mysteries, including (of course) Conan Doyle, through the golden age of the English detective novel (Dorothy L. Sayers, Agatha Christie, etc), and the American hardboiled school (Chandler, Hammett, etc). Detectives from Sherlock Holmes to Hercule Poirot, from Miss Marple to Philip Marlowe, from Lord Peter Wimsey to Sam Spade, will all be up for discussion. The aim will be to accommodate those who are newcomers to the world of crime fiction, and those who are old hands as well. |
