For security reasons, sometime over the next week everyone will be forced to log out.

Just wanted everyone to have a heads-up. We’re doing this for your protection, so I hope that softens the annoyance at having to log back in a little.
Note: If this happens and you don’t remember your password, you can reset it from the sign-in page HERE
(Visit accounts.spiceworks.com and use the “forgot your password” link.)
If that doesn’t work for some reason, or you need additional assistance for any other reason, please email us:

For security reasons, I must reject all your cookies. Send bacon instead!

FTFY.
(for those who may happen to be counting carbs).

I feel like “sometime” needs a ™ in there.

Nah, unlike Soon™, there’s a firmly defined period of time in this case with clear delineations (even if it does span over the course of a week). If it was more vague than that then it’d have to be trademarked to distinguish it as a brand-specific term.

Will Spice Rex force us out if we don’t want to go?
Rod-IT (Rod-IT) February 11, 2025, 5:49pm 9
Yes, but he will also welcome you back 30 seconds later when you re-login. He’s goodhearted that way.

What is it with all the protection topics this week from Spicy people?

I appreciate the move for security reasons, however, I think SpiceWorks really needs to look into implementing MFA. I’ve always thought it was odd that an IT community site doesn’t have modern security standards for authentication.

Is this for funsies or is it in response to something?
There is a back-end security thing that needs to know the last login date in order to function optimally, and I think something changed it… a regular update or some change we made (sorry, I don’t know all the details), and so we need to reset it to get that firm date again.
Something like that, although don’t take it as gospel, because that is just my interpretation of what someone said to me that was said in some other meeting I wasn’t at.

just a suggestion on the website, can we have anywhere it asks to accepts cookies or anything like that it just be replaced with the word Bacon lol
Wow, that would make signing up massively more tempting.
… I am guessing our legal team is going to say no, but I, for one, am totally with you.
We’ve got plenty of developers that participate here in the community… Anyone want to make a browser plugin that does a blanket find/replace to make this happen?

Did someone say BaCoN cookie?
I predict that 30 people will log back in before you get the last two people out so you can restart the server
