In its first four editions, nearly six thousand boys and girls (more than one thousand per edition), joined by their music teachers, performed as a choir together with the Municipal String Orchestra, and students doing a degree in Music Education Teaching and in Choral Conducting at the School of Arts (UNC).

Abstract

Adequacy, Expansion and Rupture. Musical Conducting Gestural Demeanor in 20th-and 21st-Century Compositions This work aims to contribute to the reflection on musical conducting gestural technique analyzing dialogic points between conducting and compositional aesthetics, focusing on current time. Starting from the hypothesis that there are transformations of the technique based on aesthetic trends, we carry out an analysis of a series of works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The analysis of similarities and differences between the "new demands" for gestural practice that emerge in this process have made possible the conceptual constitution of three categories that encompass them. We then develop the notions of adequacy, expansion and rupture of conducting technique. This work is also nurtured by an interview with an Argentine reference in the field of contemporary music conducting and composition: Santiago Santero.
