Cathy Corbett | The Courtauld Institute of Art (original) (raw)

I have recently completed a PhD at the Courtauld Institute, on the work of Ossip Zadkine: “A Russian sculptor abroad: Ossip Zadkine and his works in wood, 1908 – 1937.”
I am interested in early twentieth-century sculpture in Britain, France and Russia, the education of sculptors in all three countries, late nineteenth- century sculptural influences, and the importance of the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain and Russia. I have also done research on the reception of modernist sculpture in London and Paris in the first decade of the twentieth century, and have written on Modigliani's sculpture and the links between Zadkine and Henry Moore.

My current research is on Zadkine's atelier and the students he taught, in America and Paris.

I was a Research Assistant at the Courtauld Gallery, working with Dr Ketty Gottardo on a workshop and conference on Gauguin's 'Avant et Aprés' in 2022/23.

I have a degree (BA, later MA) in Theology from the University of Oxford and a PGCE from Queens' College Cambridge.
