One notable variable that has been used in describing the elderly is that of persistent and excruciating levels of poverty. Nigeria has often been described as a rich nation inhabited by poor people, to which the majority of the aged belong. Indeed, the poverty situation of the elderly, whether in relative or absolute terms, is quite disturbing. The inability of government to cope with the regular payment of pensions to the retired workforce, the inadequate social services and health facilities to cater for the needs of an ageing population, as well as a predominantly rural agrarian population all pose new threats to food security, social security and national security of Nigeria. Older people's lives are characterized by growing inadequacies in customary family supports, social exclusion and non-existent social security targeted at them, thus being very vulnerable to poverty and diseases. In its attempt to explain the occurrence of this menace ill schools, this paper investigated the influence of child, family and school factors on the existence of school truancy. A total of five hundred and forty sampled chronic absentees purposively selected from secondary schools in Oyo State responded to Predictor of Non-School Attendance Questionnaire (PNAQ). The stepwise multiple regression analysis used to test the two research questions posed indicated that the three variables made a joint contribution of about 56% to the prediction of school truancy while each of the variables made significant contribution at .05 level of significance. It was, therefore, recommended that counsellors should endeavour to identify other variables causing school truancy with a view to develop appropriate intervention.

The study was carried out at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Abuja-Nigeria. A descriptive cross sectional survey of the geriatric patients attending Clinic at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada-Abuja-Nigeria, was carried out. Data was obtained through the use of structured, self-administered questionnaire. Summated scores were used to grade respondents' knowledge attitudes and practices towards predictors of healthy living. Data analysis was done using the Statistical package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21. Data were presented using descriptive statistics of tables, frequencies, percentages, and pie charts. Inferential statistics of Chi-square was used to test for associations between socio-demographic variables and the knowledge, attitude and practice of geriatric patients towards predictors of healthy living. Out of 319 respondents, 50.5% have good knowledge while 49.5% have poor knowledge towards predictors of healthy living. It was also revealed in the study that a greater proportion of the respondents (52%) have poor attitude towards predictors of healthy living while less than half (48%) have good attitude. It was further discovered that 58.6% of the respondents have poor practice, while only 41.4% have good practice towards predictors of healthy living. Inferentially, Chi-square revealed that there was statistical significant association between marital status and knowledge of the respondents towards predictors of healthy living (P<0.05). Furthermore, the level of education and religion of the respondents was found to have statistical significant association with their attitude towards predictors of healthy living (P <0.05) and there was statistical significant association between the educational level and religion of the geriatric patients and their practice towards predictor of healthy living (P <0.05). There is a need for action from all concerned stakeholders to improve the KAP of the geriatric population towards predictors of healthy living. Suggested recommendations among others are; that government should enact enabling laws that will promote geriatrics' healthy living, improve the community awareness on the predictors of healthy living among geriatrics through health promotions and provide qualitative education and training/retraining courses for health workers to improve their knowledge on geriatrics health and to effectively take up their roles in educating the target population.

A total of 250 undergraduate students randomly selected from 100 to 500 levels in a Nigerian private university participated in the study. The participants' age ranged from 15-29 years with mean age of 18.53. Indices of Financial Intelligence scale was used to generate data. The original scale has 34 items that were clustered into three dimensions of spending, saving and giving money. The result of a principal component factor analysis confirmed the three factor theoretical model of the IFI namely, spending, saving, and giving money but with 25 items loading significantly in the three factors combined. The obtained communality ranged from 0.186 to 0.622 while significant correlations between 0.351 and 0.880 were observed between the three factors. A Cronbach Alpha of 0.89 established the IFI as a reliable instrument for assessing the level of financial intelligence among undergraduate university students. Premised on these findings, the IFI appears to be a valid instrument for assessing financial intelligence and is therefore recommended as a tool for financial guidance of young people by psychologists, economists and allied disciplines.

The current study aimed at determining the unanimity findings on the relationship between sexual abuse and self-esteem among adolescents as well as the concomitant determinants of self-esteem among sexually abused adolescents. To achieve this, a systematic search of PubMed, Science Direct, Cochrane, African Journals Online (AJOL) and Google Scholar was conducted to identify studies that focused on the outcomes of sexual abuse on the self-esteem of adolescents. Based on this, a simple synthesis of basic findings of the selected studies was conducted. A total of 7,278 studies were identified out of which only eight studies from Africa, Asia, Europe and North America met the selection criteria. With three research questions guiding the study, findings reveal that sexual abuse is prevalent among the study participants. It also revealed an inverse relationship between sexual abuse and self-esteem among he adolescents. Furthermore, three categories of co-determinants of self-esteem among sexually abused adolescents were observed namely socio-demographic determinants; parental and family determinants as well as nature of abuse. The overriding deduction from these studies is that sexual abuse impacts negatively on the self-esteem of adolescents. These findings have implications for Sustainable Development Goals. Since this study has established that sexual abuse impacts negatively on the self-esteem of adolescents, drivers of SGD 3 should, among other things, intensify campaigns against adolescents’ sexual abuse and make psychological intervention by counselling psychologists, available to victims.

Quite a number of health-related challenges, such as psychopathological challenges, could hinder the attainment of this laudable goal if not curtailed. Psychopathological difficulties among children and adolescents have been reported worldwide in various empirical studies. Children and adolescents from homes exemplify with parental abuse have been identified to reflect symptoms of psychopathology. Biological fathers have been indicted in some studies for perpetrating four significant dimensions of abuse. However, the extent to which these impact on children and adolescents is yet to be supported empirically. This study, therefore, examined the predicting value of paternal psychological abuse and gender on children and adolescents' psychopathology symptoms. Participants for the study were 120 purposively sampled children and adolescents from secondary schools in Akwa Ibom, State, Nigeria. An Ex-post facto design was utilised for the study.

For pupils, how the learning occurs and what goes on while they are learning impacts on their academic performance. In doing this, teachers use several means to enhance their teaching so as to ensure that the pupils are able to understand what they are taught. Method: The design was experimental in nature. Data were obtained from twenty four (24) primary six pupils. Two hypotheses were tested using the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Results revealed there was a significant difference in the performance of task given to those who were exposed to group learning and those who were exposed to individual learning (U= 20,000, N 1 = 12, N 2 = 12, p= 0.000), but there was no significant difference in the performance in task achievement between males and females exposed to individual learning (U= 11,000, N 1 = 6, N 2 = 6, p= 0.310) and group learning (U= 16,000, N 1 = 6, N 2 = 6, p= 0.82). Conclusion: From the study, pupils who were exposed to group learning performed better to those exposed to individual learning. Teachers are to encourage pupils to use group learning to improve performance. It is recommended that teachers create a classroom environment that facilitates children's interactions and collaborations. At this stage, collaborative learning may be more beneficial.

A literature search was carried out using online databases and general google search (Sciencedirect, Scopus, Jstor and Google Scholar, Jstor and general google search). The paper concludes that provision of relevant, accurate and current information promotes greater awareness and understanding among the depressed and delivery of quality healthcare. The paper recommends that government should introduce policies that encourages healthcare organizations and institutions to build special library collections that will address the information needs of depressed and non-depressed employees. The active involvement of government is also key for the establishment of community libraries that will provide health information resources to the public members.
