Character: Lucrecia Crescent
Series/Fandom: Final Fantasy 7
Original or Template version: Original
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Lucrecia is of average height (probably about 5'5"), with long brown hair (which is usually pulled back into a ponytail) and greenblue eyes (I don't care what DoC says, her eyes before in canon were green-blue >/). Her normal attire consists of dressy blouses, skirts, heels, and more often than not, a labcoat. Also as a means of normal attire, Lucrecia constantly wears a necklace and an anklet (the anklet is on her left ankle). She's not one for makeup, so she doesn't wear any (save for on special occasions).
Personality: Lucrecia is a happy-go-lucky sort of woman; she constantly has a smile on her face. She's quick to make jokes when the situation arises, at least around people she's comfortable with. Lucrecia also likes to tease her friends in a non-malicious way. However, up until she's comfortable with others, she may seem distant, or cold, while in actuality she's just very introverted around those she isn't familiar with. She's a super extrovert once she's familiar with people. Unless you're in the science field. Lucrecia will talk your ear off about that topic.
Lucrecia can be very stubborn about things, depending on the situation and what she's stubborn about; if it's something she's not familiar with, she won't feel strongly about it. She's also hard-headed on certain subjects (like human experimentation is something she'd argue AGAINST if the topic arose; her opinion wouldn't be able to be swayed). She is very passionate about her work.
She doesn't have much of a temper, though she will get angry if pushed enough. She's also prone to freakouts and hyperventilating if things go horribly wrong.
She can also be a workaholic, depending on what her project is, and until she gets the results she desires, Lucrecia will not stop, unless by an outside force.
Abilities/Strengths: Lucrecia's only strength is that she's the top of her field in science. She's not strong physically, and if she were to fight back in any sort of way, it would involve throwing science equipment at an assailant. She has no super powers, or anything like that (unless you count the ability to ANGST. She doesn't quite out-angst Vincent, however. :D) She's loyal to her friends, though, and would do anything to help them in any way she was able to do.
Weaknesses: As stated before, she's not strong physically, and wouldn't be able to hold her own in a fight. Lucrecia also can't take mental and emotional abuse. She worries about the state of her son, and if he's ok after all of the experiments that were done before she gave birth. Because of the experiments, she does get sick often. It can leave her incapacitated for a few days at a time at its worst, though for the most part it's usually fleeting. Also, spiders. They creep her out.
History: Lucrecia was born to two scientists in Midgar. The two worked for the ShinRa, as most who lived on the upper plates of the city, and Lucrecia was quick to want to follow in their footsteps. She grew up with her father and mother helping her learn as much as she could before being enrolled in an elite school, where she excelled in her science classes, all the way through college. She graduated high school with honours, and had too many scholarships to count
Once she reached the college age, she was the top of her class, and she was enlisted to work on the Jenova Project with Professors Hojo and Gast. Somewhere in the course of the Project, most likely before Lucrecia joined, Gast left the Jenova Project, wanting to have nothing to do with it, leaving Hojo and his grad-student to the Project. When tensions in the lab started happening, stemmed from attempts to sabotage the Project as well as hit attempts made on Hojo and Lucrecia, a Turk was employed to protect them as a bodyguard: Vincent Valentine. He went with them to the Shinra mansion in Nibelheim, to get away from Midgar and what had been happening there.
Vincent became infatuated with the woman he was supposed to protect. Lucrecia, it seemed, almost reciprocated these feelings, whether it be spending time with him outside of the lab (including picnics outside when time permitted!), or just trying to talk to the quiet man while she worked. However, Hojo, who was for whatever reason, infatuated and possessive of Lucrecia, and he wasn't too fond of Vincent and Lucrecia spending time together, even as friends. So, he stepped up the order of the Project: human experimentation. It was then that Hojo asked Lucrecia to help him in this, to find out the effects of Jenova's cells on a human; more specifically on an infant. He proposed to artificially inseminate her in order to impregnate her (using his own sperm of course) and then to inject the womb with Jenova cells in order to get the desired effects. After much thought, Lucrecia reluctantly agreed.
Vincent, when he found out, was furious. He went to Hojo and Lucrecia, and voiced his concerns about this part of the Project, worried more for Lucrecia's safety, as well as her unborn child. Hojo and Lucrecia both told him that they were going through with the experiment, whether he liked it or not. Possibly as a last-ditch effort to get Lucrecia away from Hojo and the experiment they would carry out for the Project, Vincent confessed his love to Lucrecia- which she shot down, going back to Hojo. Lucrecia felt some regret in going to Hojo and denying Vincent, but she had to stay loyal to the project that she had signed on to.
However, this wasn't without consequence. Not long after she was impregnated and injected with a Mako/Jenova cell compound, something went horribly wrong. Feeling sick while working, and not from normal morning sickness (to which she knew what it felt like), Lucrecia retreated to her room within the mansion, but never made it to her bed to rest; instead, she collapsed. Vincent had followed to make sure she was all right, and heard her collapse. Vincent went to Hojo to confront him, and tell him what had happened to Lucrecia, but that didn't happen. It was then that Hojo shot him, and made him into an experiment, all the while Lucrecia recovered from her collapse a few hours later. Not able to find Vincent, she attempted to carry on with her work.
The months went by, and she finally had her baby; a boy. She was not to raise him, however, and not long after he was born, Lucrecia fled from Nibelheim, unable to take the stress and the guilt over what had possibly happened to Vincent. She found herself near Corel, a mining town, in a cove under a waterfall, where she lived out her remaining days before she died.
