Crusoe Fans! (original) (raw)

I thought I might find more Crusoe/Friday type fan fiction here on lj, but this comm looks ff free. And also pretty dead, so there go my high hopes. I've seen a few slashy Crusoe/Friday icons wandering round, maybe the search engine is just dashing my attempts to find the slash comm?

Really, if I have written the only fic out there, TRAGEDY HAS BESTRUCK US ALL.

I heard the show was getting cancelled after this season. :O Does anyone know if that's true?

And is it just me, or do you guys like Olivia more than Susannah as Crusoe's love interest?

Sorry for the short post; couldn't think of much else to say. =P

No Crusoe on tonight, it's been rerun hell all week but we don't even get a rerun for our show. The website says it returns January 10th and it's "Smoke and Mirrors" - Crusoe’s wife appears on the island and a new danger is revealed.

If you want to re-watch any of the episodes MSN has several of the earlier ones available here:

Hello everyone! This is my first post. I've been watching the show since its premiere and I wanted to reach out to the community for help. I really don't understand what's going on with Crusoe's back story. All those flashbacks. What exactly happened to him? How did he lose his money? And why is that old guy (I can't remember his name) acting so shady? Crusoe believed he was his family friend. If someone feels like explaining to me what happened or what is going on, I would really appreciate it. And what happened to Crusoe's father? I've watched every episode and I still don't understand why everyone turned on him. Thanks

I missed Crusoe Satuday night. Can anybody tell me about it or point me in the direction of a good recap or summary of the episode?

Someone said Crusoe was moving to Saturday nights, does anyone know if that's true? I hope it is, it would make it easier for me to watch it.:)

Watch Crusoe tonight!

The episode is titled "High Water," Crusoe and Friday find a boat.

04 November 2008 @ 08:20 am

"The Mutineers" aired last Friday. What did you think of the episode?

The next episode is "High Water" and is scheduled to run this Friday, November 7. It's described as:

"Crusoe and Friday find hope on the deserted island, when they stumble upon an old abandoned boat that is stuck up in a tree. As they begin to repair it, they find a compass, which they believe will aid them on their finding their way home."

The show's still not getting very good ratings and advertising for it is almost non-existant, not at good omen for a Friday night television show. I've been lookiing for any good articles or reviews of the show but have had no luck. If you see any, please post a link to them.

Close your eyes! Mild SPOILERS ahead!

Last night's episode was "Sacrifice" and I think it really kind of cemented Crusoe's and Friday's friendship. And the last part of the show had me biting my nails between the heights and the dog (wolf?). The lost wedding ring part was sad but also a bit strange, my husband commented that men did not wear wedding rings during the time Crusoe is set in and often women did not have one either. So it would be a rarity for a man to wear a ring and consider it a "wedding ring."( Read more here...Collapse )

Don't forget...all discussion, questions, and reviews are welcome for this episode, either to this post or in a post of your own!

Here's a nice article about Philip Winchester from ReadingEagle.com:

"Philip Winchester's good looks would turn heads under most circumstances, but his late-Jacobean-style clothes draw additional attention - a full-sleeved white muslin shirt, blue jerkin, tan leather breeches and long boots."

"Everyone has read the book and just every boy has gone, 'I want to be Robinson Crusoe!' " Winchester said, offering enthusiastic reasons for the fun of playing the role. "There's a lot of running through the jungle, jumping off waterfalls, sword fighting, shooting flintlock muskets ... basically, if you took anything a kid said he wanted to do ... that's in the script."

On this sunny day there's no jungle in sight, of course. Winchester was filming in York, famous for its Roman ruins, Gothic cathedral and medieval streets. The city was standing in for London circa 1700, Crusoe's pre-shipwreck home and the place he longs to return to reunite with his wife and children. (Anna Walton plays Crusoe's wife, Susannah, one of several characters not in the original novel. The cast also includes Sean Bean and Sam Neill.)

The English-based scenes were designed to be woven in flashbacks and dreams throughout Crusoe's action-packed adventures on a remote island, where, lost to civilization, he fights nature and all manner of savage foe and meets up with faithful companion Friday (played by Tongayi Chirisa).

Winchester's costume would, he knew, gradually get more tatty - and revealing - as Crusoe's time on the wild and dangerous island lengthens. He laughed, a little embarrassed, when asked whether those breeches would finally be reduced to a loincloth, but he did concede, "I think we are going a little more kind of scruffy."
