In this academically challenging program, students develop interdisciplinary agility, research skills, and leadership abilities. It is a selective program, admitting only 60 students per cohort through a competitive application process. Students will move through the Honors curriculum with their class cohort and earn credit toward general education requirements. We provide information about the redesigned Honors Program including an explanation of the rationale for the changes, an overview of the vision and academic courses, and an explanation of how to get involved and teach courses for it

The authors divide and explain the process of reform in four stages: Review and Recommendation for Reform; Building Conceptual Foundations; Moving from Theory to Practice; and Implementation. The authors discuss the value of establishing goals and markers of success for each of these stages. In addition, they identified three key commitments used in each of the stages: (1) conducting work collaboratively and transparently (2) supporting decisions with research, and (3) putting students first. These commitments kept the authors grounded in institutional priorities and created the conditions for success.

One area of particular interest to philosophy teachers is research on reasoning and decision making processes. I explore one model of human cognition that offers new ways of thinking about how to teach philosophical skills. The bulk of the paper is dedicated to exposition of the model and the evidence that supports it; at the end of the paper, I suggest ways these findings might be incorporated into the classroom. I.

I'd also like to thank my family for their patience throughout this process, especially my incredible husband Gavin Henry, who has been a source of constant support for me over the last five years. Finally I'd like to extend my thanks to my special committee, Sydney Shoemaker and Dick Boyd, and especially my advisor, Tamar Szabó Gendler.
