Thus, the ability to develop and deliver effective presentations is critical to successful health professional practice. As a student, you will be required to deliver a range of presentations in class to assist development of the appropriate communication skills required for professional practice. These class presentations may include formal presentations, case study presentations and role-plays. In this chapter we discuss the importance of presentation skills to health professional practice, and we describe many contexts in which health professionals may be required to give and respond to presentations. We also provide tips for development and delivery of effective presentations, including reflective processes that facilitate the improvement of future presentations, and we can consider how you can fulfil your responsibility as an audience member.
