Multiple layers of sound are superposed, some of them consisting of gradually changing loops. Practically every layer is either computer generated or electronically processed (certainly the voices and the guitar). Mostly, one or more live improvised layers are added, resulting in tracks that can be bluesy, (free-)jazzy, rock-ish or even simply minimal. As Pinhas might say: "Voilà. That's it. The recipe is simple, now it's up to me to do something with it. Ecoutez!" suite is packaged with a video, showing flicks of a 2004 tour through the States, a nice extra indeed. With this release, Cuneiform continues its brave policy of distributing not-overly commercial semi-pop, semi-classic, semi-avant-garde music. Fine.

Metaphysics has traditionally represented contingency via the modality of possibility. Contingent... more Metaphysics has traditionally represented contingency via the modality of possibility. Contingent being is thought via the dierent being that it possibly can be. We claim that this mediation is an improper exchange of contingency. It collides with what Baudrillard calls the Impossible Exchange Barrier. 1 If contingency is to be thought absolutely, it must be thought independently of the map of possibilities. The notion of possible states must be eradicated throughout and Meillassoux's factual speculation should nd its adapted medium instead. We investigate what this alternative medium may be. Physics (instead of metaphysics) can be our guide, because quantum mechanics acts precisely at the level where the range of possible states is not yet decided. It strikes behind the scene where things are, precisely at the hinge where they can be. It is not in probability that absolute contingency will nd its right mediation or translation, but in a material medium that will replace probability altogether. Consequently, the necessity of contingency will no longer be intellectual but will become plainly material speculative thought having itself undergone the same material exchange as the one granting the proper translation of the strike of contingency. Absolute contingency In this article, we propose an alternative treatment of contingency one that doesn't unfold in time and never leaves the place where contingency strikes. The world emerged at a single stroke, Baudrillard writes in Impossible Exchange, and this is why it cannot have any determinate meaning or end.

Selected for this exhibition by the curators because of his work in the field of lens-based media, Ingham was one of nine artists included in the show. A key interest of the project was to examine the politics of experience when the orthodox distinctions between fact and fiction are broken down or are superseded by experience itself. Rather than reiterate a crisis of recognition between these categories, as many philosophical discourses and arts practices have done and still do, this exhibition attempts to establish and identify new findings about how these experiences reformulate and shape comprehension of the normative and stable territories of fact or truth. Ingham aimed to articulate some of his concerns with autobiographical memory and photographs. The exhibition was set within a simple but dynamic installation of floating white laminated screens that encouraged and, guided as well as inhibited the audiences’ movement around the gallery space.

The project examined ways in which various art practices have described and embedded these processes and structures in artworks as a means to critique their relation to it. This exhibition, catalogue and symposium aimed to underscore this territory as a current and significant question for the political operations of contemporary art practice, when military forces are no longer static but corporate, and cities are companies. ‘Little Private Governments’ proposes crucial questions regarding the locus of individual agency, something that conditions the (e)quality of art practice, in this ever-complex climate of individuation and power in the political sphere. Connecting the curation and production of artworks through writing and discussion, the exhibition project proposed a significant reformulation of the relationship of art to organizatio...
