For the entire knee joint to perform its task painlessly and functionally, the positions and strength of the muscles, the strength of the ligaments, and their reaction to movement must be compatible. The Insall–Salvati (Ins-Sal) index is useful for showing changes in patellar height produced by repositioning the tibial plateau, in other words, showing changes in patellar tendon length. Patella height is an important value to be taken into account in knee prosthesis surgery, tibial osteotomy, and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Orthopedic drills are currently used for various operations in surgical fields such as orthopedic... more Orthopedic drills are currently used for various operations in surgical fields such as orthopedics, ear, nose, and throat surgery. The path that orthopedic drills travel through the tissue is controlled manually by surgeons, and manual control leads to the risk of damaging areas such as nerves and tissues. In our study, an innovative approach is presented against existing drill designs and breakthrough detection problems. In the proposed model, the change in the load torque and the change in friction force caused by the tissue change in the drilling path are considered as a disturbance effect, and a disturbance observer has been developed that allows these disturbances to be observed. Observation of the disturbance effects allows the perception of the hardness of tissue change during drilling since it gives the change of load torque changes and friction coefficient, which cannot be measured under normal operation. The performance of the proposed approach has been proven by simulation study.

Breakthrough detection of robotic drilling process for orthopedic surgery is proposed. Features a... more Breakthrough detection of robotic drilling process for orthopedic surgery is proposed. Features are extracted from Power Spectral Density (PSD) with Welch methods from acoustic emission signal during the drilling operation. According to the power spectrum, Band-Pass Infinitive Impulse Filter is performed to efficient frequency band selection. Most meaningful features which have been derived as median frequency and mean frequency are selected to create a projected feature. A simple breakthrough algorithm, which compares the current value of the projected feature with an adaptive threshold, is developed.

Battery discharge during operation is a very important problem. For this reason, it is important to use the control method to minimize the energy consumption and to keep the drill speed in the desired range. In order to design an efficient control in any system, the system model and system parameters must be known. In this study, parameter estimation of a direct current geared motor used in medical drills was carried out by using system input/output signals. Nonlinear Least Squares method was used to estimate parameters then Genetic Algorithm optimization used to improve the model estimation performance. It was observed that the data obtained from the physical system and the model behaviors were similar in an acceptable range. Modeling improvement has been proven based on the criteria of Mean Square Error, Root Mean Square Error, Sum Square Error and Root Sum Square Error.

In this study a hybrid of heuristic and classic route planning approaches have been used to combine their advantages while minimizing the disadvantages of each method. The first excited 2+ energy states of nuclei give many substantial information related to the nuc... more The first excited 2+ energy states of nuclei give many substantial information related to the nuclear structure. Including these levels, all excited states of nuclei are shown regularities in spin, parity and energy. In the even-even nuclei, the first excited state is generally 2+ and the energy values of them increase as the closed shells are approached. The excited levels in nuclei can be investigated by using theoretical nuclear models such nuclear shell model. In the present study for the first time, we have used artificial neural networks for the determination of the energies of first 2+ states in the even-even nuclei in nuclidic chart as a function of Z, N and A numbers. We have used adopted literature values for the estimations. According to the results, the method is convenient for this goal and one can confidently use the method for the determination of first 2+ state energy values whose experimental values do not exist in the literature.

If the nuclei that enter the fusion reaction are deformed, the barrier problem becomes complicated. Therefore the deformation parameters are taken into account in the calculations. In this study, Neuro-Fuzzy approach, ANFIS, method has been used for the estimation of ground-state quadrupole ( e 2 ) and hexadecapole ( e 4 ) deformation parameters for the nuclei. According to the results, the method is suitable for this task and one can confidently use it to obtain the data that is not available in the literature.

These patterns and colors are the most important factors affecting the quality and possible class of marble. The marble tiles in the marble palette ordered by the marble palette and the difference between the pattern and quality of the product causes the return of the product. Therefore, many firms suffer economic damage. In order to prevent this damage, it has become an important issue to automatically process the classification process with image processing and deep learning methods. In this study, it is aimed to make classification by adding new data to pre-trained network by AlexNet model. Fimar Marble Mine Co. Inc. operating in Sivas. In 3 different classes, 600 marble samples were trained by AlexNet model and Local Binary Pattern method and the pattern information was obtained. Local Binary Pattern method was used to classify the characteristic by creating color and pattern.
