The aim of this study is to present the findings to readers and thus contribute to improving the training of future teachers and student education. This study conducted a critical review of the topic of photosynthesis education, by examining 80 systematically selected articles through quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative analysis highlighted the increasing number of studies in recent years and helped identify the main issues, namely teaching methods and misconceptions. In contrast, the qualitative conceptualization showed that photosynthesis education is a key topic for the development of science literacy and serves as a model for how teachers can educate students on difficult and complex issues. An alarming issue is that misconceptions adopted in childhood are powerful and often persist into adulthood (including teachers). Professional education on photosynthe...

For the children of immigrants, proficiency in the official language of their new country is crucial for their success and their smooth integration into the education system and the wider community. This article analyses Czech language proficiency of immigrant children enrolled in middle school 1 in Czechia and seeks to examine how their language skills develop over time and what factors impact the process of Czech language acquisition. The authors created a special diagnostic instrument to test students' communicative competence. Subsequently, they used it in a pilot study they carried out on a sample of immigrant children enrolled in selected middle schools in Prague. The findings of this pilot study confirmed that the linguistic distance between Czech and the students' mother tongue had a significant influence on how and how quickly they mastered the Czech language.

The work presented here deals with three areas connected to a possible use of wiki tools for the preparation of an e-learning course. To what extent does Wikipedia.com contain terms necessary for scientific lectures at the university level and to what extent are they localised into other languages? The second area covers the use of Wikipedia as a knowledge base for e-learning study materials. Our experience with Enviwiki which originated within the E-V Learn project and its use in e-learning courses is presented. The third area aims at the use of wiki tools for building a knowledge base and sharing experience of the participants of an e-learning course.

One of these areas is work with models. The term model can be understood very broadly, it can refer to a drawing of a chemical reaction, a plastic model, a permanent mount (taxidermy) to advanced 3D projections. Teachers are no longer confined to teaching materials and aids available physically at schools. Thanks to information technology, models can be included in lessons almost without any limits. However, work with models is very specific due to the simple fact that a model always differs from what it represents. Efficiency of education using ICT can be affected negatively in case that work with complex models requires high level of abstraction which pupils are not capable of (Harrison and Treagust, 2000). Jančaříková (2015) points out that-due to the demands on upper secondary pupils-children must be taught how to relate models to real objects from very early stages. Linking an object to its model-isom...

Most learning management systems offer a wide range of tools that can be used in electronic tests. With respect to time demands, the most efficient tools are those that allow automatic assessment. The presented paper focuses on one of these tools: matching questions in which one question can be paired with multiple response terms. The aim of the paper is to identify how the types of questions used in a test can affect student results on such tests expressed as test scores. The authors focus mainly on the issue of the possible increase in scores that can occur with the use of closed questions, when students, after selecting the answers to the questions they know the correct answers to, then guess the answers to the remaining questions (see Diamond and Evans, 1973, Ebel and Frisbie, 1986, Albanese, 1986). The authors show how the number of distractors (unused answers) included in a question influences the overall test sco...

This offers developing information literacy on authentic material in chemistry education. For chemical compound identification: CAS, CID and Beilstein Numbers are used. In this paper, the authors focused on the ambiguousness of carbohydrate identification using these numbers. Altogether, there are 1498 compounds listed under the CAS Number, whereas CID and Beilstein Numbers are not assigned to every compound with CAS. During the analysis, several hundred entries with duplicate records were found, providing ambiguous information about the compounds. The authors focus on ambiguous database records, further analyse the physical properties of two compounds with several assigned identification numbers. This approach offers a suggestion on how to work with this topic in education, offering fruitful educational content.

Many countries took anti-epidemic measures to reduce or eliminate the pandemic, which often included reduction or cancellation of full-time face-to-face school education. This, of course, went hand in hand with a number of technical, organizational, and pedagogical-didactic issues that had to be solved instantly. The presented study analyzes the behavior of more than 1000 secondary school teachers in the e-learning system named Techambition for mathematics education developed by the company with the same name. In the study, data from the spring and autumn 2020 waves of the pandemic are analyzed and presented (the period from 1 March 2020 until 18 March 2021). The main outcome of the study is a description of the basic types of approaches to teaching, based on cluster analysis of the collected data. Many new results have been added during the last decades and a need to write a comprehensive treatment on the afore- mentioned subject appeared. The present text collects many more or less known results on products, the exposition is unified and, in many cases, the theorems are supplied with the new proofs. Besides, new results on products of cyclic groups are added. Moreover, an introduction to the theory of commutative radical rings and a generalizations to connected transversal are included.

Methods. 97 students of the first and second year of Bachelor's degree studies at the Faculty of Education of Charles University, specialising in mathematics and computer science, were interviewed either in a single-subject form or in combination with a second subject. Subsequently, the data was processed and evaluated using quantitative methods. Results. The way they are used in specific lessons is influenced by a number of factors, one of the most important of which is the teacher's beliefs about the use of ICT in education. The way teachers think about modern technologies is very important and greatly influences how they use ICT in their teaching. Our paper presents a partial output of research focusing on the influence of teachers' beliefs on the use of ICT in teaching. Within the presented research, lessons of several mathematics teachers were recorded longitudinally. The recordings from classes were subsequently coded by a team of researchers and analysed in detail on the basis of Grounded theory.
