We all need to deposit or withdraw cash from time to time. With Starling, you can use any of the Post Office’s 11,500 branches (more than all the UK’s banks and building societies combined) nationwide for all your cash needs.

Convenient opening hours
Post Offices are generally open Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings with more than 4,000 branches also open on a Sunday, so you can do your banking when it suits you.
Stress-free deposits
Personal and joint customers can deposit £1,000 each calendar year free of charge at the Post Office. For all deposits greater than this, we will charge you a fee of 0.7% of the amount over £1,000 that you deposit. Please note, individual limits also exist on each account.
If you’re depositing into a business or sole trader account, you will be charged 0.7% (minimum charge £3) for each deposit.

How it works

To make a deposit, just take your cash to the counter, insert your debit card into the pin pad machine at the counter, confirm the amount, and the cash will appear in your account instantly.

Cash deposit limits apply to all Starling accounts. Please message us in-app to find out your limit.

If you’re depositing more than £2,000, please first check with us if this is within your limit, and check with the Post Office branch that they can accept this amount. If you are depositing coins, any denominations below £1 coins must be in full bags please.

As soon as the money clears - usually within minutes - you’ll receive an instant notification on your mobile.

To use this service, you’ll need to be using one of our portrait debit cards. If you have one of our older cards, please order a card replacement in-app by going to the Card screen and tapping ‘Cancel & Replace Card.’

Withdrawing money

You can withdraw up to £300 cash per day over the counter at the Post Office. For business and sole trader accounts there’s a 50p charge for this service, although we won’t charge you for using Post Office ATMs.
