I was surprised to find that this community actually had members. I had not quite gotten around to figuring out a way to organize this, but I guess it's just time to start.

This community was created as a way for people to publish essays and rants for discussion with a cynical and/or liberal theme. It's a great place to rant, and to be heard. The idea came for me to make this an E-Zine, and that will still happen once I get things going (which is to say, I get the money together for a website, etc). But for now, we can have our happy little home here on LiveJournal.

Nobody will be disallowed from joining, but only essays and other writings will have to go thru the editors... I am the editor-in-chief, and I will be looking for editors to assist me. We will read thru everything that comes in to us, and we will decide whether or not it is appropriate.

This is meant to be a place to read intelligent liberal essays or otherwise writings. This is not a place to make quick rants, such as "I hate Bush so much!" et al. Instead, tell us why you hate Bush, and back it up with facts and with arguments. Then and only then will we accept it. Do not attempt to post links to websites or other things. For that kind of thing, we direct you to liberal, which has stuff like that all the time.

Think of this place as one big Op Ed page, a site where you can read things written by other cynics/liberals such as yourself. Or as a place where you yourself can share your own thoughts and feelings with others like you.

There will be a strict policy that will be posted on the information page. Once you post something to cynicaliberal, it is out there... Just as it would be if you wrote it in to a newspaper. Expect to recieve criticism from people. I would recommend that, once we get popular, you turn off the option to recieve e-mail commentary, but that is up to you. However, there is a chance that it may be posted elsewhere. If you post material frlom cynicaliberal elsewhere, please make sure you cite it. Mention the author's LJ name, and please mention that it was posted to cynicaliberal. Violations to this policy will be considered plagerism, and will result in your being banned from the community.

Also, we will have a strict no-flaming policy. There will be no usage of hateful or hurtful language. We want lively discussion, we want debate, we want liberals and conservatives to coexist here... However, we will not tolerate people being disrespectful. Based on the severity of the incident, we may take disciplinary action, including scolding members to banning them outright. Let's play nice, and all be friends here.

Please feel free to promote the hell out of this community... The more points of view we have, the better the discussion.

All that being said, I will make the first official post shortly after this one. Then let the games begin!
