CAPTAIN SEAN MURPHY AND DODGE FROM GHOST SHIP for ohthehorror?

24 August 2010 @ 08:37 pm

Hey guys,
long time no post.

Wanted to update you all on a couple side projects I recently created.

  1. dcastledressing
A rpg dressing room that includes ALL characters from the Dark Castle films. I've noticed several roleplay advertisements here and wanted to create one of my own. A dressing room is pretty simple; no applications and multiple characters are allowed. So please join. (And yes, I know the layout is really plain; I'm working on that.)

  2. http://darkcastlefilms.wikia.com/
Something I've been wanting to do for a while and finally set it up. I can't do it alone though and need the help of fans to get this wiki fantastic! Please contribute.

Hi, my name is David and I've recently started roleplaying Jack Ferriman from the Dark Castle flick Ghost Ship.

I'm curious to know if there are any other Ghost Ship roleplayers out there who would be interested in playing Maureen Epps, in either the communities I am in or simply between journals. Please comment or PM notalivingsould.

Edit: Found someone.

BTW, if this kind of post isn't allowed, please delete and can anyone recommend an active community for the Ghost Ship fandom?

I'm just curious how many fans of Ghost Ship we have? We're in need of a Katie Harwood in setsailmods and would very much like it if an Emily fan came to claim the character? She was reserved till today, so the hold is no longer there. :D. Thanks so much guys.

There have been rumors floating around that the "House on Haunted Hill" franchise is getting a prequel entitled "The Asylum of Dr. Vannacutt" that showcases the diabolical man in the 30's before he was brutally murdered by his patients. These are just rumors as nothing has been confirmed by Dark Castle themselves, despite that wikipedia has stated filming begins in November of this year. Again, this is not true and indeed may just be a rumor.

Shock Till You Drop has posted an entry stating that there's been talks about a prequel, but nothing has been set in stone yet.

It appears that the page has been deleted; so this was a rumor after all.

Dark Castle is also producing another direct to DVD video, this time entitled The Hills Run Red and to be directed by Dave Parker. Another interesting thing, imdb has included the Asian based film "Ninja Assassin" as one of their films, but believe that to be an error. Then again, I could be mistaken. Until it's either confirmed as being one of their films, or fixed, we'll never know.

I know this is a long shot but Does anyone have the Ghost Ship Soundtrack/Score, that they'd be willing to upload I am broke but yet I must have this !
Any help appreciated Thanks guys :)

According to that site, thereis a list of a bunch of movies in talks about being made by Dark Castle. Steinbeck's Point Of View, Wxyz, Year of the Ram, and Bad Ronald are new movie titles that I haven't heard about yet. Macabre, I Saw What You Did, and now Deathwatch appear to be on the list and are of course going to be remakes.

The Summoner, Gangland, The Factory, and Orphan have been mentioned several times before in articles and are being made. Whiteout and RocknRolla are already being filmed and awaiting distribution.

Guess the only thing to do is sit back, wait, and see if this is true.

Dark Castle DTV Titles Named

Joel Silver and his Dark Castle Entertainment label have just inked a deal with Warners to produce two or three films a year for direct to DVD only. The first title that will come out of this deal will be the previously mentioned movie on this site, Return to House on Haunted Hill.

Dark Castle will also create original digital content for the Internet and wireless platforms to complement their releases. That probably means we will be getting little short films like what Ghost Pictures did with The Grudge 2.

Something else that became apparent in the trade is that it looks like only the hi-def versions of Return to House on Haunted Hill will get the special multi ending treatment. With those hi-def formats they will be introducing "navigational cinema" technology that will allow viewers to interact with the storyline. That includes seven viewer choices leading to over 90 iterations of the storyline.

Now to the good stuff. They have named three other titles that they are currently working on. A supernatural thriller "Widow Whisps", a psychological suspense tale "Odds" and "Cheerleaders in Trouble," an homage to 1980s slasher pics. How long has it been since there has been a movie with a kick ass name like Cheerleaders in Trouble? Too long.. way too long.

I Saw What You Did Remake is Coming

It seems as though all I am writing about these days is the next remake. This time Dark Castle will be adding another film to their remake pile that includes House of Wax and 13 Ghosts. This time they will be remaking another William Castle film, I Saw What You Did.

In I Saw What You Did, two girls, during a mischievous night of prank calling, dial up a stranger proclaiming “I saw what you did, and I know who you are!” Unbeknownst to them, they’ve called a husband who has just murdered his wife…and he soon discovers who his callers are. Back when this film was in theatres was when gimmicks where used to scare the crowd alone. Like having buzzers in the seats and things like that. Well Castle had all the seats fitted with seat belts so that the audience would be strapped in for the jump scares in the film.

Matt Venne (White Noise 2, Pelts) has been tapped to write the screenplay. Fangoria caught up with him and got his take on the film. “I’m sure [the studio] would want me to be quiet about those specifics, but I stayed true to the concept. Castle, I think, was trying to do a Hitchcockian film à la REAR WINDOW, PSYCHO, STRANGERS ON A TRAIN and SHADOW OF A DOUBT—to me, those are the four big films hovering over I SAW WHAT YOU DID. I want to make a turbo-charged Hitchockian horror thriller with suspense, twists and turns, and an incredibly cool killer.”

Dark Castle Makes A Comeback

Variety has just announced a new deal that has went down for Joel Silver at Dark Castle. Dark Castle has raised $240 million from a half a dozen investment firms to make 15 films over the next 6 years. Warner Bros. is going to distribute all the films under the deal.

That would mean Dark Castle will be cranking out at least two films a year. The better news out of all of this though is that Joel Silver will get sole approval to greenlight the pics and be given full creative control. He will also own the films outright after the investors are paid back in full.

The three films mentioned to come out of the deal are Whiteout, The Summoner and Gangland. The Summoner seems to be the only film that will have potential in the horror genre since the others are more action geared. That film will be helmed by Jeepers Creepers director Victor Salva and penned by Matthew Sand.

Dark Castle + DiCaprio + Wax = Orphan

Leonardo DiCaprio and Horror are two things you really never expect to hear in the same sentence, except if you're making a Titanic joke. But yes, DiCaprio is going to be testing out the waters of our genre, however he won't be acting. DiCaprio is acting as Executive Producer (usually someone to helps out with the creation of a project in a smaller role than producer. Or in other cases where someone with a name gets a nice paycheck so the studio can slap their name across the poster) on a new project from Dark Castle Entertainment.

For those unfamiliar with Dark Castle, producers Joe Silver, Robert Zemeckis, and Gilbert Adler formed the company back in 1999 and have since produced such flicks as Gothika, The Reaping, House of Wax, Ghost Ship, and next year's flick Whiteout.

The Hollywood Reporter got all the details concerning this new project, entitled Orphan. First and foremost, the plot: a young couple, grieving over the loss of their young baby adopt a young girl, who may not be as innocent as she looks.

Not exactly an original idea. My money is on the kid being some sorta demonic creation. House of Wax director Jaume Collet-Serra will be at the helm, hopefully the sets in Toronto don't burn down like the ones in Australia on Wax. I believe the Aussies are still in court with Dark Castle over that... Peter Sarsgaard (Jarhead) and Vera Farmiga, who was already in a crazed child film Joshua, will be staring at the young couple. Filming is due to start next week, no word on an official release date.
