Yo everyone!
If anyone looked at the Wikipedia article for BK in the past year or so, they'll know it was pretty scant. Someone has gone through and updated it a bunch:

But it needs a serious clean-up. Unfortunately, even though I've played the game and love it, my ability to remember it is somewhat lacking. So I thought if everyone pitched in a little (including myself) on this article and cleaned it up, we could make it into a really good wikipedia article. If people know other people not on the list who like the game as well, giving them a holler also wouldn't be a bad idea.

Official US news on Baten Kaitos II. Try to avoid any forums, I checked the one concerning the translation of the pages I posted yesterday, and the responses were mostly "uh...whatever...rather they make chrono trigger 3" and "yay! this means xelha's not born yet! :D"

I thought at first that this was Shion and KOS-MOS' designs for Namco vs. Capcom. After taking a closer look at what was on the rest of the page, I realized, nope, this is their designs for Xenosaga III.
Awesome. o_o Though I'm not sure what I think of 'em. Who the hell did these designs, anyway?
It looks like poor Ziggy and Allen are still decked up in their outfits from the first game. Hahaha, they get no new-clothing love. And Jr.'s stylin' in all black now. For some reason, I find that hilarious. Too bad it looks like he ditched the overcoat, I always thought that looked sexy.
It's a little sad and a little funny. He went from having no color coordination to dressing like a cowboy to dressing like he's in the Matrix.
In addition, it looks like there is, in fact, going to be a Baten Kaitos II. Behold! And here too! Looks like it's a prequel to the original game; takes place twenty years prior to the first. The main character's name is Sagi, and the leading lady's called Milly. There's some other dude named Giro in there, too. It looks like Lahdekahn will be making an appearance in this game, as on the first page, there is a screenshot of some dialogue from him. He'll be 12 years old here. I wonder if we'll see Gibari, too? Savyna, probably not, as she's only 5--but we'll probably see Geldoblame in all his 25-year-old glory. I wonder if he was fat back then, too.
There is a layout of the basic story, but as the shot is bad I can't really make most of it out. Judging from the keywords, though, it looks like it'll focus a lot on machinery, I'd assume of the Alfard Empire.

All right, my little Baten Kaitos fellow fangirls and boys (okay, so I don't think there are any boys in this community yet, but...screw off) I hath finished scanning in ALL of the compositions and character plates of the Baten Kaitos artbook for every speaking character. By which I mean, every character that has a portrait. Go figure that one out.
Next up in the artbook is the townsfolk (some of this stuff is crazy once you see it up close) then the monsters. After that you get bios with all (or most, anyway) of the character portraits. Unfortunately, they are in black and white.
Oh yeah, I need to scan the pages with the opening sequence and ending sequence on them. Just remembered that. I'll probably do that next.

A lot of reviewers, when reviewing Baten Kaitos, gave it low marks for a weak story/characters, but I personally felt that it had one of the most involved plots and characters of any RPG I've ever played. While I haven't played everything under the sun (I have the collection but not the time yet) I have played a decent handful of RPGs, enough that I think I can recognize good RPG storytelling vs. bad RPG storytelling.
What are other people's feelings on this, just to get some convo going? Did you feel that Baten Kaitos, while having good music/graphics/battle system etc., was weak in story and characters?
