A recap of the 2024 #GxExM Symposium in Wageningen 🇳🇱🌱 The event brought together global experts to discuss cutting-edge advancements in genomics and machine learning for agriculture. From optimizing crop resilience to supporting sustainable farming practices, the innovations showcased mark a crucial step forward in ensuring global food security. Our contribution to the symposium was the talk by Istvan Dekany, “Interpretable Deep Learning for Multi-Trait Prediction”. As technology and agriculture continue to intersect, it’s clear that events like GxExM are essential in driving forward-thinking solutions. Looking forward to the impact of these discussions in the field! Here are István’s impressions and observations 🔎 https://lnkd.in/ePQTNJg4 #Agritech #Genomics #SustainableAgriculture -

What's an #InnovationJourney, and what can it look like? At the #Horizon #Europe experience exchange”, organized by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, grant coordinators, startup advisors and companies got together to discuss the European funding environment and how it supports startups' innovation journey. The result were lively and exciting discussions. The reality of an innovation journey as a meandering river - the interlocking of national and European funding programs as well as funding in the network and individual companies - was immediately taken up. All strands are important and should be complementary. Sebastian J S., Managing Director of Computomics from Tübingen, has successfully used some of the various offers to support a startup company emerging from academia, and build networks with researchers and companies. We appreciated the invitation and the interesting questions in the discussion! ⭐️

📸: Michaela Holz (merci ❤️) -

“And you find also then different genomic regions, which are only appearing under drought and not at all across the timeline in the well water treatment. And then again, you have the shift to the recovery and you see also a switch back in the genetic architecture, meaning again, different genomic regions are important for that recovery period. And this is with one experiment, you can now really track non-invasively the growth of plants and the involved genomic regions, candidate genes.”Kerstin Neumann, Group Leader Automated Plant Phenotyping at IPK in Gatersleben, shares her insights from managing a very diverse phenotyping infrastructure. The focus of her team’s research is to study the plant response to abiotic stress, especially drought and heat. Precision phenotyping systems allow non-invasive observation under controlled environmental conditions. Kerstin’s other focus is the INCREASE initiative, a successful Citizen Science Experiment which won the Grand Prize for Citizen Science by the EU this year. 🌱 Listen in 🎧 👉 https://lnkd.in/esSwj8jH #Podcast #PlantBreeding #Phenotyping #CitizenScience -
