Zweck der H2Global Stiftung ist die Förderung des Umwelt- und Klimaschutzes. Dieser Zweck wird erfüllt durch Maßnahmen, die die Herstellung und Verwendung von grünem Wasserstoff und anderer klimaneutraler Energieträger national und international fördern. Die Stiftung unterstützt Aktivitäten, die durch wissenschaftliche, journalistische und sonstige Tätigkeiten wie Beratung zu einer verbesserten Nutzung dieser Energieträger beitragen. So widmet sich die Stiftung auch der Umsetzung des Förderinstruments H2Global. H2Global verfolgt eine auktionsbasierte Förderung des zeitnahen Hochlaufs der internationalen Power-to-X-Wirtschaft. Die Bundesregierung stellt hierfür Fördermittel i.H.v. 900 Mio. Euro bereit. In der Stiftung vertreten sind gegenwärtig 61 Unternehmen entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette Power-to-X. H2Global in Japan 🇯🇵 Tokyo is setting a powerful example in the drive to become a "hydrogen society," and H2Global is honored to contribute to this transformative vision! H2Global Executive Director, Markus Exenberger, and Elisabeth Sterner participated in HENCA Tokyo 2024 - Hydrogen Energy Conference for Action, organized by our valued partner, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG). The conference brought together speakers from across the globe and drew over 250 participants from cities, private firms, and industry organizations worldwide, to address the dual imperatives of stable energy supply and decarbonization. In an interview with Hydrogen Insight Editor Leigh Collins, H2Global co-creator and Hintco CEO Timo Bollerhey discusses upcoming H2Global tenders, reflects on the success of the first auction, and on what more is needed to create and scale clean hydrogen markets. "Hintco could host auctions for “anything that contributes towards decarbonisation” — such as blue hydrogen, green steel or perhaps CO2 captured directly from the air" “We see ourselves as the market creator. Once the markets are there, we want to let others play. H2Global in the Gulf 🌍 Oman 🇴🇲 is emerging as a frontrunner for clean hydrogen production on the Arabian Peninsula, with ambitious plans to produce 1.25 million tonnes of clean hydrogen by 2030. 🚀Markus Exenberger and Pauline Raabe had the privilege of meeting HE the Minister of Energy and Minerals, Salim Al Aufi, to explore how the H2Global mechanism can bring added value to Oman’s growing clean hydrogen economy. 📈 “Our discussions with representatives from Hydrom, OQ Alternative Energy, and the Salalah2 project highlighted Oman’s commitment to building a market for clean hydrogen and its derivatives,” said Markus Exenberger, Executive Director of the H2Global Foundation. Invited by H2-diplo - Decarbonization Diplomacy, the H2Global team presented insights on the mechanism and lessons from our first pilot auction to key stakeholders in Oman's energy ecosystem. 🚢🌍 H2Global Foundation at the Global Maritime Forum Annual Summit 🚢🌍 H2Global was honored to join over 200 leaders from the shipping, energy, and financial sectors, alongside port authorities and policymakers, at the #GlobalMaritimeForumAnnualSummit. Together, discussions advanced on shipping’s decarbonization 🌱 and establishing a new standard for seafarers well-being 👷♂️⚓. With only 5% of clean maritime fuels projects having reached FID, H2Global’s innovative mechanism was highlighted as a promising solution to bring green fuels to market ⚡🌿. “Shipping accounts for nearly 3% of global emissions, and given its vital role in supply chains, it’s essential to prioritize its decarbonization. H2Global is here to create a global market that will allow shipping fleets to run on clean fuels, no matter the port they call home — from Hamburg and Rotterdam to Walvis Bay, Singapore, Tokyo, and beyond,” says Susana Moreira, Executive Director, H2Global. 🌍🔋 Happy Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day! On this day, we celebrate the potential of hydrogen as a clean energy source and its vital role in reducing emissions, especially in hard-to-abate sectors. Hydrogen has an atomic weight of approximately 1.008. It's the lightest and most abundant element in the universe, making it a key player in the transition to a sustainable energy future. H2Global has made substantial progress since last Hydrogen Day. Notable achievements include: 🏆 H2Global’s first pilot auction was successfully completed, marking a pivotal step in demonstrating the viability and impact of the H2Global mechanism. 💰 EUR 4.83 billion of additional funds were committed or earmarked to H2Global tenders to be run by @Hintco showcasing governments’ commitment to hydrogen and to fostering a globally traded market, including: 🇦🇺 pledged AUD 330 million for a joint H2Global tender with Germany 🇨🇦 earmarked CAD 300 million for a joint H2Global tender with Germany 🇩🇪 committed EUR 3.53 billion for a new H2Global tender and earmarked an additional EUR 600 million for new tenders. 🇳🇱 committed EUR 300 million for a joint H2Global tender with Germany 🌍 H2Global deepened its dialogue with various key players in Austria, Italy, Japan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, UAE, USA. 🤝 H2Global enhanced its engagement with leading organizations, including the WB (#H4D Initiative), the IDB, IRENA, IEA, IEEJ, CGEP, OECD, and OIES. 🌱 H2Global Foundation’s corporate donor community grew to 72 members, demonstrating increased interest in H2Global’s work towards supporting the creation of markets for clean hydrogen 🌟 The H2Global Foundation was nominated for the #EartshotPrize and received a grant of USD 1 million from the Bezos Earth Fund, enabling H2Global to increase visibility and further its work as a green market maker. Partnerships with additional climate philanthropies are currently being developed. Together, these milestones underscore H2Global’s collective journey toward a sustainable future powered by clean hydrogen. 🌍 H2Global was on-site at #ClimateWeekNYC last week, and we left feeling inspired and energized by the conversations we had! Key takeaways for H2Global include: It’s clear across all stakeholders that there is an urgent need to deliver essential solutions as time is running out ⏳. In short, it is past time to act 🚀. We must look at and solve what’s holding up action and move faster towards solutions. We must identify innovations and initiatives that effectively address on-the-ground challenges and accelerate the energy transition across various sectors ⚡️. For H2Global in particular it was an opportunity to: 1️⃣ Highlight H2Global’s contribution as a green market maker https://lnkd.in/egCzMUAJ2️⃣ Explore ways in which the H2Global mechanism can be used to support the decarbonization of the shipping industry 🚢 by accelerating access to the clean fuels the sector needs 3️⃣ Discuss how the H2Global mechanism can be leveraged by offtakers to drive increased production of low and zero-carbon materials and fuels 4️⃣ Engage with various philanthropies active in the climate space, including our first philanthropic supporter, Bezos Earth Fund, to explore how H2Global can scale up to meaningfully accelerate the creation of clean fuel markets. H2Global Executive Director Susana Moreira, reflecting on NYCW said: "The emphasis on identifying strategic solutions that are already yielding tangible results made this NYCW feel truly impactful. The report by Mission Possible Partnership and Bezos Earth Fund -‘Unleashing Market Forces to Scale Green Industry: The Role of Green Market Makers’- published today at #GreenMarketsDay24 features H2Global as the first and sole active #greenmarketmaker. Key findings: 🌎 H2Global is the first and only concessional capital-backed Green Market Maker operating globally as of September 2024, pioneering the H2Global double-sided auction mechanism implemented by Hintco that can be replicated across sectors and geographies. 📈 G20 countries can leverage “Green Market Makers” to catapult early markets for low-carbon products whilst optimising use of public funds and ensuring future industrial competitiveness. 🚀 Green ammonia, sustainable aviation fuels, green steel, and low-carbon cement markets are identified as priorities for rapid expansion through “Green Market Makers”.
