This week our safety activity campaign is taking place in our #BASFCatalysts plant in Ludwigshafen. At three dedicated stations, all employees have the opportunity to truly experience and practice daily safety behavior. 1) We passionately discuss how we can protect our most precious tool, our hand, and learn how difficult it is to work without a thumb. 2) Through an engaging safety video, we test our vigilance and courageously say โstopโ to correct unsafe situations and unsafe behavior aiming to prevent mistakes and accidents. 3) In a โChinese Wisperโ type game we replicate a colorful Lego figure just by description and learn how important it is not to get distracted, to focus and to ask questions back to ensure we truly understand the task. A special and heartfelt thanks to Hans Wohlfromm, Andreas Weber, Marko Lรถffler, Ugur Tas, Jacqueline Lebeda, Stephanie Bohner, and Marek Pazicky for their brilliant ideas, planning, and execution. BASF officially opened its new Catalyst Development and Solids Processing Center in Ludwigshafen, Germany. This research facility will serve as a hub for pilot-scale synthesis of chemical catalysts, enabling BASF to offer its global customers faster access to innovative technologies. This pilot plant will also be of central importance for the development of new solids processing technologies. Catalysts play a key role in industrial chemistry. More than 80 percent of all chemical products come into contact with a catalyst at least once during their production. Catalysts reduce the energy demand and the amount of undesired by-products. Thereby, they minimize raw material consumption and shrink the carbon footprint of products. Catalysts are used in many areas, including the chemical and petrochemical industries, as well as in innovative processes essential for the green transformation. Today, we opened our new Catalyst Development and Solids Processing Center in #Ludwigshafen. This is another important step on the way to the green transformation: With this new center, we bring process innovations and new chemical catalysts to our global customers faster. Why are #catalysts so important for the chemical industry? More than 80 percent of all chemical products come into contact with a catalyst at least once during their production. Catalysts reduce the energy demand and amount of undesired by-products. Thereby, they minimize raw material consumption and shrink the carbon footprint of products. To further strengthen our innovative power in this area, we invested a high double-digit million-euro figure in this #pilotplant. I am very proud of the #BASF team that has worked hard over the past three years to open this building today, which is equipped with numerous new technologies for our R&D activities and state-of-the-art safety features.
