Since the release of the first white paper by Rhishi P. and Metal Dog Labs on AI for the food value chain in April, the world has continued to center conversation around the potential value and effects of AI on business and culture. A second white paper is now available, published through the same collaboration with Digital Green, KissanAI, and Traive, and explores how organizations create value for their stakeholders and customers using these tools. ‘Value Creation Frameworks for Generative AI in Agriculture’ examines the barriers, pitfalls, potential, and considerations for teams looking to deploy AI-based tools and technologies that enhance and deepen connection with customers. The Crop Science case study within this white paper breaks down the biggest opportunity for #TeamBayer: leveraging the industry’s largest agronomic data set in ways that will help move our innovation faster while enabling deep relationships between farmer-facing employees and farmers around the world. A kernel of corn is powerful enough to change a life. I saw that firsthand when I visited Zambia for the opening of Bayer’s new hybrid corn seed facility. I spoke to a farmer named Lisa, who’s been growing corn with Bayer’s seeds for five years. Her yields have increased – they’re up to 10 times larger! Now she’s not just feeding her own family. She’s growing a business and feeding many more! Check out her moving story at the link below. You’ll also hear from #TeamBayer scientist Julia Honold about what goes into breeding a new variety of seed. Check it out! -

🌍 Reimagining Europe’s role in global innovation is not just possible - it’s essential. And we want to help catalyze it. Last week, we brought the critical debate around closing the European innovation gap to Brussels, the heart of the EU, fostering dialogue among decision-makers, industry leaders, farmers, and civil society on how to make European life sciences more competitive through innovations in agriculture and health. Scientific, tech-driven innovation is the lifeblood of the life sciences. It enables us to create cures for diseases and produce more food under harsher climate conditions with less environmental impact through advancements like digital technologies, precision breeding, biotechnology, and modern crop protection. Embracing rapid technological and scientific innovation is at the heart of our global #HealthForAll #HungerForNone mission, and through it we'll continue to transform the life sciences.#InnovateForGrowth #ModernAgriculture #TeamBayer -

Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) was first detected in 2015, and while it has no human health impact, the virus can bring crop loss and significant economic damages for tomato growers. The first generation of resistant varieties have helped ensure produce quality and consistent supply over recent years, but plant RNA viruses like ToBRFV mutate quickly. Using advanced conventional breeding techniques, Bayer has developed the next generation of ToBRFV-resistant varieties by stacking multiple resistant genes to disrupt different stages of the plant-virus interaction. Recent trials demonstrate strong performance against the resistance-breaking virus, and this year we expect to launch the first tomato hybrids with protection against resistance-breaking ToBRFV in every major glasshouse tomato segment. -
