‘Bones’ Final Season Gets Premiere Date, New Time Slot In January On Fox (original) (raw)

Bones is on the move one last time. The sturdy utility player, which frequently has been relocated on the Fox schedule, will premiere its 12-episode final season on January 3, following the time slot debut of New Girl and premiere of new comedy The Mick, and will air in the Tuesday 9 PM slot.

The dramedy procedural’s 12th and final chapter originally was slated to air in the fall in the Thursday 9 PM hour. It subsequently was pushed, with new baseball drama Pitch taking its spot in the fall lineup and Bones slotted to succeed it in the Thursday 9 PM hour in winter. That plan now is changing, with Bones taking over the Tuesday 9 PM time period for a comedic Fox Tuesday lineup, a theme the night also has in the fall with Scream Queens airing at 9 PM.

This is a new berth for Bones, which will have aired in six different time slots on five different nights during its 12-season run. On Tuesday, Bones replaces new reality series Kicking & Screaming, which was supposed to air at 9 PM. It will still run in midseason, with premiere date and time slot TBD.

Here is what to expect from the final season of Bones, which brings the storylines of Brennan (Emily Deschanel), Booth (David Boreanaz) and the Jeffersonian-FBI team to a close. It will feature “the return of fan-favorite guest stars and squinterns, as well as an old flame from one of the team’s past.” There also will be a wedding, “an epic serial killer storyline,” a lumberjack competition, and Booth and Brennan’s marriage will be put to the test.

“From the very first season, Bones was called ‘The Little Engine That Could,’ so we could not be prouder of ending up as Fox’s longest-running scripted drama,” said creator and executive producer Hart Hanson. “And we got there because of an insanely loyal, loud, lovely, lively audience.”
