‘The Tomorrow Man’ Lands At Bleecker Street Ahead Of Sundance World Premiere (original) (raw)

Bleecker Street has acquired North American rights to The Tomorrow Man, the debut feature film from writer-director Noble Jones that stars John Lithgow and Blythe Danner. The move comes ahead of the drama’s world premiere in the Premieres section of the Sundance Film Festival. A May 17, 2019 theatrical release is now planned.

The plot; Ed Hemsler (Lithgow) spends his life preparing for a disaster that may never come. Ronnie Meisner (Danner) spends her life shopping for things she may never use. In a small town somewhere in America, these two people will try to find love while trying not to get lost in each other’s stuff. Derek Cecil, Katie Aselton, Sophie Thatcher and Eve Harlow co-star.

The pic is produced by Luke Rivett, Nicolaas Bertelsen, James Schamus and Tony Lipp. It bows January 30 at the Eccles Theatre in Park City. The fest this year runs January 24-February 3.

The North American deal was negotiated by Kent Sanderson and Camille Bertrand on behalf of
Bleecker Street with UTA Independent Film Group representing the filmmakers.

“Noble Jones has created a uniquely charming love story between master actors John Lithgow and Blythe Danner,” Bleecker Street CEO Andrew Karpen said. “I’m thrilled to be working with my
old colleague James Schamus and the team at Anonymous Content.”

Bleecker Street last year around this time landed another Sundance pic, Debra Granik’s Leave No Trace, which has had a strong run during the current awards season.
