Katatonia! [21 Oct 2006|11:24am]
I saw Katatonia lastnight at the Loft in Poughkeepsie (their first stop on the U.S. Tour).Let me say, it was a mighty good show, and the guys are really nice guys. I was lucky enough to meet them all and get them all to sign my CD booklet. I might try to catch them again at B.B. Kings in the city.

Sad news for Nevermore [01 May 2006|09:51pm]
Nevermore guitarist Steve Smyth has recently been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease and must undergo a kidney transplant in the near future. Sadly, Nevermore's bass player, Jim Sheppard is also undergoing surgery for Crohn's disease. Both players will not be able to play on the upcoming IN FLAMES tour, fortunately though, Nevermore WILL still be playing the tour with replacements Chris Broderick (guitarist for Jag Panzer) and James Macdonough (ex bass player for Megadeth / Iced Earth). In a lighter side of Nevermore News, Jeff Loomis is planning a Solo instrumental release in the near future. This will be a great piece for any fan of Shred Guitar. Jeff is also in the works of releasing his own signature model guitar through Schecter guitars, it will be unveiled in the coming months.

[ **mood** | calm ] **( SurveyCollapse )**So, the reason why I joined this community is because I had a question about a band. Novembre contacted me on Myspace, and I'm not a big Myspace fan, but I thought it was pretty cool because I had been looking for Italian metal [been meaning to check out Opera IX too]. They claim to sound like Opeth, and I don't know whether they mean older or newer, 'cause I don't really like the tracks on Deliverance much. So, what are they like? Are they good, and do they actually sound like Opeth?

Trying to keep this community alive.. [22 Dec 2005|04:13pm]
[ **mood** | okay ] Favorite album of 2005?Personally, I can't really think of an album that I think has been really great this year that I bought. There was a lot of hype around a lot of bands but most of them were somewhat disappointing (Cryptopsy, Nile, Hate Eternal, Children of Bodom, Naglfar, etc.) I think I'll go with Old Man's Child's new one "Vermin." It's a solid album. It's not as amazing as "In Defiance of Existence," but it's really good; not a let down. What about the rest of you?

I met Mikael Akerfeldt!!!!! [03 Nov 2005|08:51am]
[ **mood** | Weeee!!!! ] Brian and I went to see Opeth and Nevermore lastnight. Into Eternity opened, and it was a really great show! The set lists the bands chose were awesome! It was a really great time!Into Eternity, (a Canadian band) was a bunch of really decent guys. After they opened they stayed to watch the rest of the show with the audience. I like it when bands are casual like that and not all hoity-toity. Nevermore was amazing, and this time Warrel Dane didn't seem to be in a pissed off mood. He was acting friendly and fun on stage, so maybe when I saw him at Gigantour he was having a bad day so I got the wrong impression. Opeth OWNED MY SOUL. I love them SO MUCH! Wow...amazing. Brian bought me a little girlie Opeth shirt, and after the show I HAD to have Mikael Akerfeldt's autograph. So we waited outside (we were the only ones) for them to come out, and they did! And Mikael was really nice (and kind of drunk) but nice non-the-less, and I got to talk to him for a bit and he signed a little paper I had! WEEEE.I'll post pictures of the autograph soon! (Even though it just looks like a scribble.)I am deaf!Mikael:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/texanguitargod/MikaelAkerfeldt.jpg

Ghost Reveries [02 Oct 2005|10:12am]
I don't have much to say besides:I love the new Opeth album. Some of the songs have a different sound to them (different from what's on the other albums), but you can still tell it's Opeth. I think the band is very creative and has a good way of keeping their music quality at a high.Opeth will never let you down. That is all, lol.

Theatres Des Vampires [26 Aug 2005|07:41am]
"Female-fronted Italian goth band THEATRES DES VAMPIRES have announced their first-ever U.K. tour in support of their new album, "Pleasure and Pain", which will be released in Europe November 28 via Code666 Records. The band were warned recently by London promoters that vocalist Scarlet would get the band banned from future shows if she continued to self-harm and cut herself onstage and feed the audience blood from her wounds! check out a picture of a 'feeding' taking place on stage at this location http://www.theatres-des-vampires.net/picture1.htm "......what the fuck, can you say "AIDS FEST"!!!!!!!! the kid who actually takes her blood in his mouth is a fucking idiot. Normally i wouldnt sit here and bomb a band, but this is disgusting. She does this at all of the shows...i hope she gets a disease.

GIGANTOUR [22 Aug 2005|01:42pm]
Nevermore and Fear Factory were the best bands there. Megadeath was really awesome too, only they played last, so by the time they came on you were really tired and worn out. Dream Theater was the worst part of it. It was too high-pitched to stand for an hour! They did put on a good show, but I just wasn't too into it.Nevermore played amazingly, and Brian and I got all their autographs:Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comJeff Loomis was the nicest guy there. Warrel Dane was there and he was a real ass. He wouldn't shake hands or speak to anyone. Jeff Loomis thought I was funny! Heee...Then Dry Kill Logic played and I got the bass player's pick:Image hosted by Photobucket.comGigantour!!!Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Blackest of the Black Tour [29 Jul 2005|10:05pm]
[ mood** | good ] The Blackest of the Black Tour will begin Sep. 30 in San Diego, CA. This year's lineup will feature Danzig (with Doyle doing a special 30 min set of Misfits songs), Chimaira, BEHEMOTH, Himsa, MORTIIS (WTF?), and The Agony Scene. What a weird lineup. What was last years? I remember Kataklysm but I can't recall who else.( Tour DatesCollapse )**Also, Cryptopsy's new studio album "Once Was Not," has been recorded and will be released sometime in October during their tour with Suffocation, Aborted, and Despised Icon.

Opeth drummer [29 Jul 2005|08:07pm]
Recent reports have suggested that Martin Lopez of ex Amon Amarth and Current Opeth Fame, has been fired from his current opus. MTV.com reports: According to a Roadrunner spokesperson, OPETH drummer Martin Lopez has not been fired, but rather, went back to Sweden for treatment of a rare blood disorder he's had for most of his life. Until he returns, the band currently on the Sounds of the Underground tour has enlisted STRAPPING YOUNG LAD drummer Gene Hoglan to fill in for him.
