T-minus 1 day! So, who all is going?

I'm thinking of going over tomorrow on my lunch hour to get my pass. Failing that, I'll be heading over directly after work to get my pass, and then hit up TBBQ.

Anyone else wishing they could clone themselves to hit multiple tracks? I swear, I want to see everything in at least two tracks on Friday! And WTF with putting "Meet the Fed" and "Ask the EFF" at the same.damn.time!!! And is it me, or are the talks running later than in years past?

That reminds me, I need to put together outfits for the Balls... I didn't end up going to them last year, but I hear the new venue makes for a nicer space for the B&W.

Looking forward to a great DefCon!

Classic Gaming Expo Whoa - look what is happening in Vegas: Classic Gaming Expo 2007

http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/190639

http://www.cgexpo.com/

...the world's first and largest event paying tribute to the people, systems and games of yesteryear. ..

Looks like old consoles & such - with a big blowout party at the pinball museum Saturday night. The weekend before DEFCON, a good diversion for those here in town with Black Hat.

Las Vegas concerts for Black Hat & DEFCON Some out of town folks hit me up asking about concerts around town during this year's Black Hat & DEFCON. I took a quick look on http://pollstar.com/ and http://www.jambase.com/ for what might be interesting. YMMV, though I thought sharing is caring.

Fri 07/27/07 Violent Femmes Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Fri 07/27/07 Jonny Lang House Of Blues
Sat 07/28/07 Tesla House Of Blues
Sat 07/28/07 Rush MGM Grand Garden Arena
Wed 08/01/07 John Lee Hooker Jr. Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino
Thu 08/02/07 John Lee Hooker Jr. Boulder Station Hotel & Casino
Fri 08/03/07 Godsmack The Pearl Concert Theater At Palms
Sat 08/04/07 Buckcherry, Hinder, Papa Roach The Pearl Concert Theater At Palms
Sun 08/05/07 Against All Authority, Reel Big Fish / Less Than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto House Of Blues
Mon 08/06/07 "Sounds Of The Underground": Amon Amarth, Chimaira, Every Time I Die, GWAR, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Job For A Cowboy, Necro, Shadows Fall , The Devil Wears Prada, The Number Twelve Looks Like You - House Of Blues
Sat 08/11/07 The Fixx The Club @ Cannery Casino

As for venues, the Hard rock sucks. House of Blues is one of the best in town. MGM Grand is ok, but the sound quality in the arena can be shitty in spots. The Pearl is the brand new venue in town, good luck getting tickets. The Station casinos are not bad venues, and I think those are free shows. The Cannery Casino I have never been to, so I can not say - and there is no review posted on www.yelp.com yet for me to reference.

Black Hat Speakers + 2005 Content on-line From my email yesterday:

----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1

Dear past Black Hat attendee,

The speaker selection for Black Hat USA 2006 is now complete. We have a fantastic line up of Briefings presentations and our largest selection of Training this year. Briefings: http://www.blackhat.com/html/bh-usa-06/bh-usa-06-schedule.html Training: http://www.blackhat.com/html/bh-usa-06/train-bh-usa-06-index.html

For the first time in four years, we have been able to expand our speaking line. This is due to Caesars Palace has expanded their conference space, and Black Hat will be getting the entire fourth floor to ourselves! This means that for the first time in four years, we were able to expand the number of presentation tracks, panels as well as offer more opportunities for networking in our Human Network area.

Some notes from the schedule: *A Root-kit focused track draws attention to the amount of work, and the speed of advancement, going into this field. *Ajax to Fuzzers--web app sec is taken to a new level. The largest number of talks dealing with web application security ever delivered at a Black Hat. As the web moves to a more interactive "web 2.0" model of participation it is only natural for there to be more risks involved. *A Windows Vista Security track which has been garnering a lot of press lately... this will be an unprecedented first comprehensive look at Vista security issues *Jim Christie is bringing his "Meet the Fed" panel over from DEF CON, and the Hacker Court is back along with panels on Disclosure, a Public Forum on Corporate Spyware Threats hosted by The Center for Democracy and Technology Anti-Spyware Coalition, and a new challenge will be presented by the Jericho Forum.

Remember, prices increase July 1st for both the Briefings and Trainings. Register now to get the best rates! http://www.blackhat.com/html/bh-registration/bh-registration.html#us

Other News:

Black Hat is pleased to release the presentations from last years Black Hat 2005 Briefings in both audio and video format.

Also a first they will be available for download in both H.264 .mp4 format (iPod compatible) as well as .mp3 audio. Currently you have to subscribe to the Black Hat .rss feed to get them, but in the coming weeks we will make them available through the past conventions archive page. http://www.blackhat.com/BlackHatRSS.xml

Black Hat would like to welcome the ISSA as a world wide supporting association. http://www.issa.org/

video from Blackhat & DEFCON 2005 Greetings all!

Since my employer will not pony up the cash for the videotapes, does anyone have access to the video from Blackhat & DEFCON 2005?

There are some sessions I wanted to see, but were unable to.

TIA!

Defcon Filler Torrent Does anybody have the Defcon filler compilation (3.5 Gb of short clips that they played between movies)?

I've been downloading it through bittorrent for the last week. But now the seeders seem to have dissappeared, leavng me with 97.3% of the download (60 out of the 221 files are incomplete). The filename is dcmc-filler.torrent I forget where I got it from, but it showed up on a google search for "defcon torrent"

If somebody could help me out by seeding this it would be really great.

EDIT:

A seeder just connected, and I'm now around 20 mintues away from having the whole thing.

I did a quick Google search, and I found the file:
http://ibaku.net/filler/dcmc-filler-2005.torrent
found at
http://forum.defcon.org/archive/index.php/t-6077.html

I'm going to seed it for 12 hours, or until my ration is over 200%, whichever happens first.

edit again: The individual files (not as a torrent) are at http://neg9.org/defcon/dcmc-filler-2005/
(thanks to chizone for that link)
