[ mood | hungry ] Saw "Denis Leary and Friends" as part of the New York City Comedy Festival last night. The show was was Denis, Louis CK, Pete Correale, Gred Fitzsimmons, Paul Nardizzi, and Patrice O'Neal. All of them were pretty great and it was better than any of the Comics Come Home I've been to or see on Comedy Central.Denis opened with a song about Mel Gibson, tequila, and Jews which was pretty damn funny. He said he wasn't doing any more Bush jokes cuz it was just like kicking a retard while he's down. Topics ran the gamut from Nick Nole-te to Iraq to lots and lots of weed jokes. He did a fairly long set and I'm hoping he'll actually come out with another standup album. I'd say he definitely has enough good material for one. It was the same sort of angry, swearing, crazy humor I loved on No Cure for Cancer and Lock and Load with new topics. He should quit this TV crap and go back to standup (although he's really bitter about not having any Emmy so probably not till he gets one...)When Leary first came out he talking about living in NY and growing up in Boston which got a crowd mix of boos and cheers. I think it was Fitzsimmons who made the crack about Denis not having an Emmy cuz they don't give them to Red Sox fans :pHe closed with the Asshole song. All around a great show. If you can catch him doing standup definitely get tickets!

Denis is going to make an appearance on Regis & Kelly on Monday Oct. 10th at 9:00AM eastern time. Is there something going on that he's promoting? I'm pretty disappointed that I'll be in school and won't be able to catch it.

[ mood | contemplative ] Okay, I was watching the Making of No Cure for Cancer last night on the ultimate Leary dvd and I noticed-that our boy had a mullet. The standard 80s comedian mullet with the big ol' checkered sportscoat....how do we feel about this? I know I was remotely disturbed.
