Working for Light Rail Transit system in Southeast

Once upon a time, in the age of Coleman Young, it was prophesied that southeast Michigan would have mass transit, a light-rail system from Pontiac to downtown Detroit. And on arrival at the city on the river, riders would traverse the downtown on a little loop of rail. But it did not come to pass, and, lo, that promise would be dashed — and only the tiny loop would be built as a taunting reminder of what might have been.

Today powerful interests like Senator Shirley Johnson of Royal Oak are fighting Public Transit. Some people are short sighted and are against expanding transit. They are aligned against the growing tide of people calling for better public transportation in our state...something needed to bring cultural and economic growth to Metropolitan Detroit. This community exists to raise awareness, rally support, and discuss ways we can get active to make change happen.

Michigan's Governor Jennifer Granholm is a strong supporter of public transportation to help move Michigan along to the future. So is our director of the Department of TRansportation. Now the real lifting begins...developing overwhelming public support.
