n. A device used to print, impress, perforate or emboss a design or letters on an item, especially paper. A mark made by such a device. A small piece of printed paper attached to a letter or container to indicate the payment of duties, taxes, or postage. v. To mark with a stamp.
Notes
Stamps1 are usually small and intended for hand use. The letters or design are typically raised. Stamps are commonly inked or used to transfer a pigment or metal from foil. A blind stamp uses no such ink or pigment, and leaves only an impression of the design.
