The Manitobia Project is a natural extension of the mandate of the Manitoba Library Consortium (MLCI), an organization dedicated to providing Manitobans and other Canadians with extensive and more equitable access to the library and information resources of the province. The project was funded by Canadian Culture Online. The digitization of the Winnipeg Tribune was funded by the University of Manitoba Libraries. The digitization of newspapers published during the Second World War was funded by the Council of Post Secondary Education. Digitization of these significant resources will enable the Consortium to overcome the geographical barriers within the province, making unique resources available throughout Manitoba and beyond.
