[ mood | calm ] Hi there everyone, I only just found this community, and even though the last post was in March last year, I thought I just had to share my photos and info with you - I saw The Dirty Three on December 9th 2009 play in London, I'd only ever seen them play in Melbourne, Australiabefore this and of course they completely ROCKED my world and made me so proud to be a Melbournian. They reminded me of the wild passionate abandon, but complete layed back attitude to life that they inspire. Here are my photos:Photobucketmy photos form the Queen Elizabeth Hall (I took heaps more, these are just a snippet!)PhotobucketWarren having a rest at the end of 'Some Summers They Drop Like Flies'...PhotobucketThis is Warren telling us a story about almost suffocating at All Tommorrow's Parties Holiday Camp park called 'Buttlands':_'I'd rather die like a boiled sausage at Buttlands than to have started Emo.Remember, never leave your suitcase in front of the door at Buttlands.'_Warren Ellis.Photobucket**Queen Elizabeth Hall, London - set list:**Last Horse on the SandSome Summers They Drop Like FliesHopeAuthentic Celestial MusicEverything's FuckedOcean Above, Sky BelowKim's DirtSue's Last RideThings I Don't Want To Know About At AllAhh! live dvd [18 Apr 2006|09:39pm]
I just got done watching a DVD, recorded and apparently broadcast in 1998 in Australia--the D3 in front of a studio audience, with ambient footage of ocean and streets and highways interspersed throughout. Have you all heard of this, the ltd ed Ocean Songs CD w/ DVD of said live performance? Released by Bella Union www.bellaunion.com (with whom I'm in no way affiliated). Sorry if it's old news, but thought it might be of interest to some. This isn't that long-anticipated live DVD, is it? I only hope there's still more live D3 bliss to come!

I saw Dirty Three twice last week in London and wondered if anyone here had any mp3s of them playing live - not necessarily last week's gigs though - I just thought they were so energetic live that I'd love to hear some more!

Doris [02 Sep 2005|05:38pm]
[ mood | whoa, bagpipes! ] There's a link here where you can listen to the track "Doris" from the D3's upcoming album. It's very different from most of their past work, but I like it. I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album!

I noticed that Mick Turner is accompanying a short silent film as part of the Flower Cut Film Festival tomorrow night (2 July) in Melbourne. Also performing with eye-candy is the brilliant Melbourne instrumental trio Silver Ray. Would love to hear feedback from anyone going.
