**Welcome!
New users, welcome to codecombat discourse! As you know, this place is where you can ask for help, get hints on levels, share experiences that you had while playing codecombat, reporting bugs, etc.! Feel free to enjoy your time here, but here’s a few things you should know before going ahead.

Trust levels
If you click on my profile picture, you should see a list of badges and in the first one, it should say, leader. That’s trust level 4. What exactly is a trust level? A trust level can be earned by getting trust over time, and you will receive it automatically(All except for the leader trust level, which can be only earned by recieving from a staff member). Here’s some info about it:

Trust level 0/New user

By default, all new users start out at trust level 0, meaning trust has yet to be earned. These are visitors who just created an account, and are still learning the community norms and the way your community works. New users’ abilities are restricted for safety – both theirs and yours.
Users at trust level 0 cannot …

• Send personal messages to other users
• “Reply as new topic” via Link button (UI removed)
• Flag posts
• Post more than 1 image
• Post any attachments
• Post more than 2 hyperlinks in a post
• Have actual links in the ‘about me’ field of their profile (will be silently and temporarily converted to plain text)
• Mention more than 2 users in a post
• Post more than 3 topics
• Post more than 10 replies Trust level 1/Basic

At Discourse, we believe reading is the most fundamental and healthy action in any community. If a new user is willing to spend a little time reading, they will quickly be promoted to the first trust level.

Get to trust level 1 by…

• entering at least 5 topics
• reading at least 30 posts
• spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts

Users at trust level 1 can…

• use all core Discourse functions; all new user restrictions are removed
• Send PMs
• Upload images and attachments if enabled
• Edit wiki posts
• Flag posts Trust level 2/Member

Members keep coming back to your community over a series of weeks; they have not only read, but actively participated long and consistently enough to be trusted with full citizenship.

Get to trust level 2 by…

• visiting at least 15 days, not sequentially
• casting at least 1 like
• receiving at least 1 like
• replying to at least 3 different topics
• entering at least 20 topics
• reading at least 100 posts
• spend a total of 60 minutes reading posts

Users at trust level 2 can…

• Use the “Invite others to this topic” button for one-click onboarding of new users to participate in topics
• Invite outside users to PMs making a group PM
• Daily like limit increased by 1.5× Trust level 3/Regular

Regulars are the backbone of your community, the most active readers and reliable contributors over a period of months, even years. Because they’re always around, they can be further trusted to help tidy up and organize the community.

To get to trust level 3, in the last 100 days…

• must have visited at least 50% of days
• must have replied to at least 10 different topics
  of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25% (capped at 500)
• of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)
• must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*
• must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
• Sharing exploits will result in an account suspension.
• must not have been suspended

* These likes must be across a minimum number of different users (1/5 the number), across a minimum number of different days (1/4 the number). Likes cannot be from PMs.

All of the above criteria must be true to achieve trust level 3. Furthermore, unlike other trust levels, you can lose trust level 3 status . If you dip below these requirements in the last 100 days, you will be demoted back to Member. However, in order to avoid constant promotion/demotion situations, there is a 2-week grace period immediately after gaining Trust Level 3 during which you will not be demoted.

Users at trust level 3 can…

• recategorize and rename topics
• access a secure category only visible to users at trust level 3 and higher
• have all their links followed (we remove automatic nofollow)
• TL3 spam flags cast on TL0 user posts immediately hide the post
• TL3 flags cast on TL0 user posts in sufficient diversity will auto-silence the user and hide all their posts
• make their own posts wiki (that is, editable by any TL1+ users)
• Daily like limit increased by 2× Trust level 4/Leader

Leaders are regulars who have been around forever and seen everything. They set a positive example for the community through their actions and their posts. If you need advice, these are the folks you turn to first, and they’ve earned the highest level of community trust, such that they are almost moderators within the community already.

Get to trust level 4 by…

• Manual promotion by staff only
• (Possibly via a to-be-developed election system in the future)

Users at trust level 4 can…

• edit all posts
• pin/unpin topic
• close topics
• archive topics
• make topics unlisted
• Split and merge topics
• Daily like limit increased by 3× Trust level 5/Moderator

Moderators are the people who protect other users from harm. These users are one of the most reliable helpers in the forum, and you can trust them, they’ll keep you safe.

Users at trust level 5 can will have access to…

• Suspend/Mute users
• Anonymize users
• Get access to some user settings
• Handle flags
• Delete posts
• View moderation history Trust level 6/Admin

Admins are the superpowers in discourse, and they can do anything, and they have power over all other trust levels, including moderators. These admins are the codecombat staff, and they are users who control the discourse system.

Users at trust level 6 can…

• Change site settings
• Can add themes and badges
• Ban all other trust levels
• Can access all user settings. Owners

Rules
There are rules? Yes, there are some rules that users need to follow in order to make this forum a safe and cozy place for other users.

• You may not swear or curse anywhere in the forum, doing so may result in a mute or ban. This rule also applies for PM’s. If you cannot control your behavior after a warning, then your email and IP will also be blacklisted.
• Spamming is not allowed.
• You may not post NSFW content anywhere, and will result in an immediate ban. This applies to profile pictures and user background too. Your email and IP will also be blacklisted.
• You may not steal code from GitHub and help users or request help. This is plagiarism.
• Do not share exploits
• You want to avoid necroposting if the topic is solved, or the post isn’t related to the topic. But necroposting is better than multiple topics of the same subject.
• Don’t create junk threads(Those that don’t have a specific topic)
• A spam post results in a suspension
• You may not lower someone’s status.
• You may not post solutions.
• The requesting of solutions is also not allowed. This is because this place is used as a learning place, and just copy/pasting solutions go against that “idea”.
• Spam posts such as requesting likes are strongly prohibited and will result in a long mute or suspension.
• Ban Evasion results in a permanent ban.
• Requesting promotion of trust level or title is prohibited. Earn it as it says. Don’t force it.
• Public humiliation is prohibited and disrespectful. Please don’t be rude to anybody.
• Do not attempt to boost your likes count using an alt account. Your IP will be blocked and you will be blocked from the forums.
• Advertising counts as spam.
• High volumes of flags approved by a moderator may constitute a punishment depending on the infraction.
• Keep politics out of the discussions.

If someone is posting something mean, flag it!
Please don’t be shy about flagging a post that is mean, flag it! There is always a flag for you that will notify the moderators. And they will definitely help you. And if some reason to flag does not meet the any of the flag requirements, go choose something else and write a reason of why you flagged it, and if mods accept that flag, mods will reply with a yellow message saying: Thanks for letting us know. We agree there is an issue and we’re looking into it. So please don’t be shy and if someone is posting something against the rules, flag it!

When asking for help
It’s fortunate that there’s tons of people willing to help out with your code, but sometimes we need clarification. Here’s some things to think about when asking for help.

• What error do you get when running the code?
• What equipment are you using?
• Is there a line of code that has something that’s not yet unlocked for you?
• What line of the code are you getting the error?
  Also we require you to format your code correctly so we won’t have to have trouble looking at your code.
