Split widescreen display into 2 virtual displays using "gdctl" (in GNOME 48) (original) (raw)

Hello,

Is there some way to split a widescreen monitor so that it appears to be two separate “fake” monitors that are side-by-side horizontally (instead of one large wide monitor)?

I read that there is gdctl utility coming with GNOME 48. Not sure if it will include this kind of “xrandr-like” functionality…

Would appreciate any info on this…

Thanks,
Alex

I found a couple of feature requests that seem to indicate this is not available. They are 4 years old, so it seems like this is not something one can expect soon, but I’ve subscribed for notifications anyway…
