2025 LLVM Runtimes Workshop (original) (raw)
October 1, 2025, 5:46pm 1
The first LLVM Runtimes Workshop will be held at the US LLVM Developers’ Meeting on Monday, October 27th. The goal is to provide a space to discuss the state of the LLVM runtimes and align on next steps.
The plan is to have a Birds of a Feather (BOF) format intended to encourage informal discussions on a topic, similar to the Embedded Toolchains Workshop. Each session will begin with the facilitator presenting the main topic, then some ideas or questions to guide the discussion. The focus will be on the discussions instead of a formal talk, but there will be a screen available for facilitators. Facilitators are encouraged to get a commitment from someone to take notes for their topic.
We expect the topics of interest to include allocators in LLVM-libc, deduplicating math code between runtimes, and hardening approaches. If the topic is focused on using LLVM runtimes in an embedded system it should probably be discussed in the Embedded Toolchains Workshop, which takes place later the same day.
This will be an in-person only workshop with focus on active discussions. The BOF sessions will not be recorded but we plan to take notes, which will be shared afterwards on the discourse forums or in the discord chat.
To propose a session, please contact @michaelrj-google and @petrhosek by Friday, October 10 and include the topic, the questions to be covered, the names of the facilitators, and the name of the person who will be taking notes.
