Hello from the MLIR area team / Office hours on March 13 (original) (raw)
As you may know, the LLVM project is updating its governance model and has created several area teams to help with coordinating work on the project. As an important widely-used subproject, MLIR has got its own area team elected by qualified contributors. The top 3 persons formed the initial area team and had agreed to assign the following roles:
- Alex Zinenko (@ftynse) - Chair
- Renato Golin (@rengolin) - Secretary
- Jacques Pienaar (@jpienaar) - Member at large
Given the guidance from the overall LLVM project, we have also unanimously decided to invite
- Matthias Springer (@matthias-springer) as another Member at large
given his continued and significant contributions to the MLIR community and election ranking.
As this team structure is new for everyone, including ourselves, and since none of us have actually run for the election on any sort of formal platform, we would like to better understand the expectations the community has from the area team it voted for. For that, we are planning to hold an introductory / office hours meeting on Thursday, March 13 at 9am PST (5pm CET; do mind the time zone and daylight savings differences!), the usual ODM slot.
In general, we expect to focus on ensuring smooth functioning of the MLIR project by ensuring relevant contributors participate in code and design reviews and actively encouraging all interested parties to reach consensus, along the lines of the historic LLVM code owners role.
In the meantime, should you have any questions, suggestions or concerns, feel welcome to reach out to any and all of us via the usual LLVM project channels.

FYI, it looks like the calendar linked from https://mlir.llvm.org/ no longer has events for the MLIR ODM, and they stopped at the end of 2024.
Besides looking at older events on that calendar, I am not sure where to find the ODM call link.
Thanks for noticing, I added the event for tomorrow in the calendar.
