Administrative / biographical background: | The National Consumer Council was established by the Government in 1975 to give an independent voice to consumers in the UK. The Council was a non-profit making company limited by guarantee, which was largely funded by grant-in-aid from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). On 1 October 2008 the National Consumer Council was merged with Energywatch and Postwatch to create the new consumer organisation Consumer Focus. |
