GSoC 2026 contributor looking to start contributing (original) (raw)

Hello everyone,
My name is Shubham Chaudhari, a B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering student.
I am interested in contributing to Python for Google Summer of Code 2026 and have started exploring the CPython repository on GitHub.
I have experience with Python and Java and I am currently trying to understand how to start contributing to the project. I would really appreciate guidance on beginner-friendly issues or documentation tasks where I can start contributing.
If there are specific repositories, labels, or areas recommended for first-time contributors, I would be grateful to know.
Thank you for your time and guidance.

Hi, CPython itself is not participating in GSoC (that I know of).
There is a Python GSoC organization, and they have a list of projects and repos that are participating in GSoC. I would suggest starting by checking into their website and review the contributing guidelines there.
